The long-rumored deal that will see Toyota powering the Williams F1 team has been agreed, according to a report from autosport.com.
Since losing its status as BMW’s works team last year, the Grove, UK-based squad has been linked to a partnership with the Japanese manufacturer, possibly with the Toyota engines badged as Lexus, the company’s luxury brand. A deal could not be worked out for ‘06 because Toyota already had a supplying agreement with Midland, and Williams ended up signing a “stopgap” one-year contract with Cosworth for the 2006 season.
