Mark WebberMark Webber has hit out at Williams’ refusal to extend the role of the driver beyond the F1 cockpit.

After two bad years with the Grove based squad, the Australian racer’s parting shot before switching to Red Bull was to reveal that even Jaguar and Minardi - his former F1 employers - listened to his input.

“That was not the case at Williams,” 30-year-old Webber told the Swiss-German racing newspaper Motorsport Aktuell.

He said: “You had to let the team do its work and be satisfied to simply drive the car. My opinion was not important. It was more relaxing for me but also pretty frustrating because we didn’t get the results we wanted. ”

Webber admits that, excluded from the decision making process, he found it hard to motivate himself in the last few Grand Prix for the team.

“I had to learn to deal with it,” he said. “Frank Williams and Patrick Head are very successful people so I had no argument to give them about why to listen to me.”
