Villeneuve Launches Scathing Attack on Schumacher
Quote selected text Published August 17th, 2006 in MainJacques Villeneuve has launched a scathing attack on his former Formula One nemesis, Michael Schumacher.
In an interview, to be headlined as ‘Jacques Attacks’ on the cover of F1 Racing magazine next week, the axed BMW Sauber racer branded Schumacher - the seven time World Champion - as bland and a liar.
French-Canadian Villeneuve, 35, said: “I think the day he hangs up his helmet people will just forget him.” Referring to Senna, Prost and Mansell, Villeneuve added that ‘those people attained a hero status that Michael never has and never will’.
Villeneuve and Schumacher’s acrimony dates back to 1997, where at Jerez they collided at the climax of their championship duel. “Michael simply isn’t a great champion,” Villeneuve continued, “because he’s played too many dirty tricks and because he isn’t a great human being.”
Villeneuve, who resigned from the drivers’ GPDA body after the infamous Rascasse affair at Monaco this year, also accuses Schumacher of being a ‘liar’. “He lies not only to fans but to his fellow drivers, too. He just stared in our eyes and lied. He thinks he’s bigger than the sport, and when he retires, and no one really remembers him, that will become clear.”

The problem with Jacques, is that he’s a legend in his own mind. He’s the one that will never be remembered as much of anything other than the son of Gilles Villeneuve. He’s a brash, rude, non-talented driver, who only won the F1 championship because he had the best car on the circuit. The same fact that enabled him to win the Indy 500. His lack of work ethic has landed him where he is today……..no ride, and absolutely no friends.
He has been successful at not just alienating himself from his fellow drivers, but his own family as well (re:his unlce Jacques).
He should have been dumped from F1 at least 5 years ago, because he brings absolutley nothing to the team he drives for other than lame excuses for his mistakes.
Dark, spot on regarding Jacques, but i concur with the poker on Schuey,a passionless bot hitching a ride on technologys coattail!
You hit the nail on the head Dark!

Schumacher is a true racer. Guys like Jacques think the world owes them something and they’re wrong. I bet he wouldn’t be complaining if it was himself in the Ferrari F1. Gilles accomplished great things. He has not. Schumacher is obviously talented. It doesn’t hurt he is in one of the greatest cars ever built with billions behind it, but no puzzle is complete with out all the right pieces. Jacques sounds like a scorned ex-girlfriend venting about some guy that never loved her. He was forgotten years ago.
I agree with Jacques…many times in his career he has played dirty tricks, earlier this year he stopped on the track during the qualifying to cancel his competitions fast lap… come on race right…if you suck work on getting better instead of cheating ur way to the top
Sour, sour grapes by Jacques! And, I can’t believe some of the comments. At ONE race he stopped on the track blocking Alonso (intentional??) and that makes him a driver “cheating his way to the top?” Come on, Underdog, you are slamming probably the greatest F-1 driver of all time!
Schuey, the greatest F1 driver of all time????? Now I don’t know all the past great F1 drivers, but if Senna was still alive he would we running circles around Schuey. Don’t get me wrong, Schuey has talent and has a great car but if it weren’t for Senna’s passing, the Schumacher erra wouldn’t exsist.
here here ruby!! jaques is a very small and sad man!! he lives upon his dads name he has never ever been that great and when things go wrong for him (in which they have right now probably terminally) he jumps on this bandwagon and slags of people schummie in particular!! this just proves how stupid and small minded the canadian is. schummie is regarded as a big icon in his native country its just such a shame that jaques isn’t in his native country!! as for his single he released does anyone else agree with me that it was awfull!! what a sad sad sad little man.ITS ABOUT TIME HE GREW UP!!!
