Villeneuve Finished with F1, According to Manager
Quote selected text Published August 24th, 2006 in MainJacques Villeneuve’s manager says the French Canadian veteran will not return to Formula One.
Following the 35-year-old former champion’s departure from BMW-Sauber after Hockenheim, Craig Pollock confirmed that Villeneuve - who similarly left BAR-Honda at the end of 2003 but is now linked with a NASCAR switch - is definitely now finished with the series.
”I don’t think he is unduly disappointed,” Pollock told Autosport magazine this week, ”I think he was just ready. ”
He also denied that a ‘headache’ caused by Villeneuve’s shunt during the German grand prix was the reason behind his subsequent absence, and replacement by young ‘Friday’ test driver Robert Kubica, in Hungary.
Pollock explained: ”It was a big accident, but he has had bigger.
”He never said he was not available.”
