Speculation That F1 Will not Return to Indy Next Year
Indianapolis boss Tony George has called off his planned journey to London for talks about the future of the US GP. Bernie Ecclestone jetted out of America earlier this month without settling the issue of a new contract with Indy chiefs, sparking George’s announcement that he would soon meet face-to-face with the F1 chief.
But Speedway CEO George told the Indianapolis Star this week: “(I) don’t need to (go to London). ”
Asked if a new deal had been negotiated over the phone, he declined to comment, but a spokesman insisted that a contract for 2007 and beyond has not been penned.
