Just as the fledgling Japanese team unveiled its newer SA06 car at Silverstone, a story emerged that Super Aguri would like to use a works Honda chassis in 2007.
At present, using a rival team’s old - or current - car is prohibited, as each competitor must either build or hold the intellectual property rights to its F1 machine.
In the case of Toro Rosso, which uses a version of last year’s Red Bull car, the rule is grey, in that the team’s owner actually both built and holds the rights to the RB2.
Moreover, the Italian team has never fully admitted that the first Toro Rosso racer is actually a repainted ‘Bull.
