(GMM) Responding to stories that he was pressured by Ferrari to retire at the end of 2006 in order to make way for Kimi Raikkonen, Schumacher said: ”This is simply stupid.
”I made my decision on my own and from now on I want to concentrate 100 per cent on the title.
”Nothing else interests me.”
Also, Michael Schumacher’s spokeswoman has denied rumours linking the retiring 37-year-old German with a shock switch to another F1 team.
In the two weeks since the Ferrari veteran announced his retirement at Monza, speculation has hinted at links between Schumacher and the rival McLaren, BMW, Red Bull - and other - teams.
A famous Italian sports newspaper even published amateur photographs depicting the seven time world champion in the same frame as Renault road cars, giving rise to more gossip.
But Sabine Kehm, Michael’s personal press officer, said: ”No, (he) is not going to change teams.
”In any case, Michael will remain connected contractually with Ferrari even in the future.”
