Schumacher has point to prove in Shanghai

Michael Schumacher heads to China with a point to prove. The Ferrari star is now just two points behind Renault rival Fernando Alonso in the championship battle but his Chinese record is not up to normal high standards, having failed to score a point in both of his previous two visits.
With Ferrari having taken the lead of the constructors’ championship, Schumacher will be aiming to keep the pressure on his rivals as he prepares for back to back races. Felipe Massa, third in the championship, enjoys a five point margin over Giancarlo Fisichella.

“I still have a point to prove at Shanghai and I will see if things turn out as I want. The circuit is a fine one and the facilities are… well, amazing. Both races I have disputed here have not gone very well.”
“Unlike last year, however, we have a better all round set up and hope to improve the result. Our aim is clear: we have to focus on the title. I feel that our best chance lies in the Constructors’ championship. Obviously I would like to claim both crowns and we will be going all out. We will have our fingers crossed.”
“We have worked hard. I think that we can be hopeful. We have every chance of taking the title though, in my opinion, it will be tough. We should not underestimate Renault and will be focusing solely on our strengths. We will be going all out in the final races and we will see what the season has in store for us.” “Having said this, I have to repeat that the squad and I think we have a good chance, above all in the Constructors’ championship where we are in a good position. Felipe’s input has proved decisive here, especially in the last three races. It will be exciting and unpredictable until the end. I am pleased that we have it all to play for in the last few races. I feel that I can make up the two point gap.”
