Schumacher Gets Slapped with Same Penalty as Alonso
Quote selected text Published August 5th, 2006 in MainWith Fernando Alonso facing a most difficult afternoon after being charged with dangerous driving and receiving a two-second penalty in each qualifying session today, Michael Schumacher has also been handed the same penalty.
AFP France reports that the Ferrari driver, fastest in practice this morning, passed another car after the red flags had been deployed to halt the session. Jenson Button’s Honda engine had expired, putting oil down on the circuit.
That means that both Alonso and Schumacher head into qualifying with time penalties to be added to their best lap times.

This is funny. Apparently the FIA got pressured by the penalty they handed Alonso. I’d NEVER heard of a penalty like this until yesterday and now 2 in 2 days to the top 2 drivers! What a coincidence!!!
We hear that there was alot of back-room politicking since yesterday by Briatore and Renault…have no idea if that had an effect but you’d have to think that it did…
Weird, just weird! And, don’t they worry what they are doing to the chase for the championship?
