(GMM)-Reports that Dutch global bank ABN AMRO is to became Renault’s new title sponsor seem to have been incorrect.
A spokesman for the Amsterdam-based bank outright denied the rumour as ‘nonsense’, amid subsequent reports that another bank located in the Dutch capital, ING Group, had bagged the deal.
The ABN ARMO spokesperson said: “I can say with certainty that we are not going to sponsor a Formula One team. ”
Renault’s marketing manager Jason Campbell is in charge of replacing long time cigarette title sponsor Mild Seven, whose backing was estimated at around $50m per year.
