McLaren lost its sponsorship deal with ‘CA’ because F1 is not represented adequately enough in America. That is the revelation of Computer Associates’ boss of global branding Keith Turco, who told silicon.com that the brand opted to focus instead on the world of golf.
“McLaren was very good to us,” he said. “But looking at McLaren and F1 from a global perspective it didn’t serve CA as well as we would have liked.” “F1 didn’t cover a large area of where our business is - which is North America. ”
‘CA’ was formerly represented on the helmets of McLaren pilots.
Turco said: “Golf is a global sport and we have a global reach as a result of our involvement.”
