Niki Lauda (pictured right) says Michael Schumacher’s hopes of winning an eighth title before retirement dropped to ‘two percent’ with his Ferrari engine failure at Suzuka.
“A ten point deficit is just too much,” the former triple world champion said in an interview with Bild newspaper.
The 57-year-old Austrian also played down the possibility that the Ferrari driver, or a sympathetic fellow driver, might perform a kamikaze move in order to knock Fernando Alonso off the Brazil track.
He said: “In my era you could do it, but nowadays? Impossible. There are cameras everywhere to catch you.
“And I doubt that Massa would sacrifice his career to do something like that.”
