Imola removed from revised F1 schedule for 2007

Imola’s hopes of returning to Formula One in 2007 were dashed on Wednesday when a provisional calendar was published by the FIA.
After the world motor sport council met in Barcelona, a statement explained the still 17-race schedule by revealing that ‘no agreement was in place for an eighteenth race’.
The absence of the San Marino Grand Prix cements an unusual four-week gap in April and May, after Bernie Ecclestone earlier organised space for a now apparently absent reprieve.
The new calendar also sees Japan and China swap dates late in the season, and confirmed that the Nurburgring and Hockenheim will ‘alternate’ hosting a single annual German GP.
“In 2008, (the race) will switch to Hockenheim,” the FIA said.
