Gibson named WD-40 NHRA Sport Compact Chief of the Race at Palm Beach

GLENDORA, Calif. Rodney Gibson, crew chief for Paul Efantis and his Little Dooey’s Barbeque and Blues Toyota Solara, has been named the WD-40 NHRA Sport Compact Crew Chief of the Race for the Palm Beach NHRA Sport Compact Nationals in Jupiter, Fla.
Gibson was successful in guiding the team to a victory in the Modified category at Moroso Motorsports Park, Aug. 19-20*. This was Efantis’ 14th career Wally trophy.
‘The award is greatly appreciated,’ said Gibson. ‘We have been fighting to overcome the rule changes. It’s just the icing on the cake.’
By winning the WD-40 NHRA Sport Compact Crew Chief of the Race award, Gibson was honored at the opening ceremonies of the NHRA Sport Compact Nationals presented by Toyo Tires on Oct. 1.
‘I use WD-40 all over the car from front to back,’ continued Gibson. ‘It is used on the wheelie bars, door hinges, tools and transmission. We use it on everything.’At each race stop for the NHRA Xplōd Sport Compact Racing Series the WD-40 Company will offer an award to recognize the NHRA Sport Compact Crew Chief of the Race. The winning Crew Chief of the Race will earn $250, a plaque, and will receive recognition during the opening ceremonies at each NHRA Sport Compact Series event and on NHRAsportcompact.com.
