Four-time Indianapolis 500 winner A.J. Foyt announced that he has mutually agreed to part ways with Felipe Giaffone. No replacement driver was named for the No. 14 ABC Supply Co. Dallara/Honda/Firestone.
“It wasn’t working for either of us,” said Foyt, who continues to recover from his June 26 knee replacement surgery on his left leg. “It’s been frustrating for him and me, and I knew I needed to do something. We just didn’t have the communication that we needed to be successful together.”
Despite finishing fifth in the road-course event at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International, Giaffone and Foyt have struggled on the oval tracks. Outside of an eighth-place finish in the season opener at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the team’s best showing on an oval track was 15th at Twin Ring Motegi in April.
“I’m glad for the opportunity to drive for A.J.,” Giaffone said. “From the beginning we have had the same goal, to work together to get good results. The season started out pretty good, but then it went in the other direction, and we didn’t achieve what we expected.”
Foyt will announce Giaffone’s replacement later this week.

Good move on Giaffone’s part. A.J. is still stuck in the 70’s and will not change with the times…it’s so obvious.
