John Force, the 13-time NHRA POWERade Series Funny Car world champion, was among more than 30 individuals honored at the Peace Officers Association of Los Angeles County’s “CHP Day” at the Quiet Cannon Country Club in Montebello, Calif.
Chief Gary Dominguez hosted the event which acknowledged members of the California Highway Patrol who made significant sacrifices or contributions during the previous year.
Force, who attended with members of the John Force Racing, Inc., staff, was the only honoree not directly involved with the CHP. He was awarded “Lifetime Member” status for his continued support of the “CHiPs 4 Kids” toy drive. Force’s annual Holiday Car Show, held each December at team headquarters in Yorba Linda, is a major contributor to the “CHiPs 4 Kids” toy drive which provides Christmas presents for underprivileged children.
Admission to the show is one unwrapped toy per person, each of which is donated to the CHP. “I am proud to have received the 11-99 Award and the recognition of the CHP,” Force said. “I am most proud of the fact that I was in the same room as individuals who, much like our military, dedicate their lives and sometimes, unfortunately, give up their lives for us.”
