(GMM) A fax sent to formula one teams by the FIA’s Charlie Whiting has confirmed reports that the body has immediately changed the rules governing ‘blocking’ during qualifying.
Whiting wrote that complaints, such as the controversial incident at Monza where Felipe Massa protested against the later penalised championship leader Fernando Alonso, will no longer be automatically referred to the stewards for review.
He added: ”Only in cases where it appears to race control that there has been a clear and deliberate attempt to impede another driver will the stewards be asked to intervene.”
