In an ESPN Sports Poll released this week, fans ranked NHRA as their second-favorite type of motorsports attraction behind NASCAR.
NHRA received 13.4% of the votes from fans polled from January-December of 2005 to anchor the second position. NASCAR led the poll with 59.5%, while motorcycle racing came in third with 9.7% of the votes. Formula 1 was fourth with 6.3; Indy Racing League (IRL) fifth with 6.1; Champ Car sixth with 1.4; and other racing series received .04% of the fan response.
In 2004 an ESPN Sports Poll produced similar results with motorsports fans, as NASCAR led with 57.6 and NHRA was second with 13.9.

Not to take anything away from NHRA Drags, but this is no surprise seeing as how open wheel racing has been severely diminished in popularity in this country because of…well, you know!
