Schumacher had to pay similar amount for first ride to Eddie Jordan in 1991!
Anthony Davidson will earn just under (US) $250,000 during his first full season on the F1 grid next year, according to British tabloid the Daily Mirror.
The London-based daily contrasted Davidson’s apparent Super Aguri salary with the debut of Michael Schumacher in 1991, when the eventual seven time World Champion actually had to pay a similar amount to Eddie Jordan for a single race at Spa Francorchamps.
“The Super Aguri team are so convinced the 27-year-old (Davidson) has the same star quality he hasn’t had to find a penny,” the newspaper commentary read.
Davidson was a Brackley-based test driver for six years.
Sporting Director Gil de Ferran said: “Whilst we are sad to lose such a valuable asset, we wish him all the very best of luck and are pleased to know that he will be remaining within the Honda family.”
