Fernando AlonsoFernando Alonso has vowed to push himself to the limit in a bid to become a three-time Formula One world champion.

After winning back-to-back titles with Renault in the last two years, Alonso begins a new chapter in his career next season with McLaren.

For the first time in 10 seasons this year, the Woking team failed to win a grand prix, although hopes are high for 2007 with Alonso joined on the grid by young Briton Lewis Hamilton.

Alonso is certainly aiming to turn around McLaren`s fortunes as he said: “They are a very strong team, with many resources.

“They did not have a good season this year, but we will work hard so that I can be at 100% in 2007.

“Of course, as with any team there will be a period of adaptation. But I will be racing at my maximum, like always, to try and win.”

At the age of 25, Alonso heads into the new season as the youngest double world champion in the history of the sport, a feat he hails as `incredible!`

“At first, just like last year, I was numb and I couldn`t really understand properly what was happening,” added Alonso.

“But with every day that goes by, I am a little prouder of what I have achieved with the Renault team.

“As the years go on, I am sure it will grow a little more.

“To win the world championship is the ultimate in my sport - a fantastic feeling.”
