Team Rensi Motorsports, which challenged for the Busch Series title in 2003 with Bobby Hamilton Jr., is looking for sponsors for both of its cars for 2008. Team president Ronnie Russell confirmed Friday that the team will lose McDonald’s and FreeCreditReport.com as sponsors of its cars.
Russell said the team is actively looking for sponsorship for the No. 35 car and driver Bobby Hamilton Jr. and also looking for sponsorship and a driver for the No. 25 car (driven this year by David Gilliland and Richard Johns).
“We need sponsors for both cars,” Russell said. “At this point, we don’t have anything signed. We do have some activity. … We’ve been in Busch racing since 1999, and this is the closest we’ve come to not knowing whether we’re going to be around or not.”
I wonder how many more regular Busch teams will lose there sponsors due to the Buschwackers coming in and dominating the races
Rensi is a good guy and a former CEO of McDonalds. I don’t see him having a hard time finding sponsors.
Actually the team IS having grave trouble. Sponsors want to see their cars in the winner’s circle or at least ON tv..Between the tv coverage only showing the first 5-6 cars all day and the buschwhackers taking all the prize money to ” really have fun driving these Busch cars”…the livelyhoods from several really prominent teams is in jeopardy. Cup drivers need to be limited to the number of Busch/Nationwide races they can race each year and the number of Cup drivers in that series needs to be limited at each race..just like the number of quarters varsity players can play in a given weekend..or there will be no Busch/Nationwide series left..only a 2 race weekend for Cup teams…
