Stewart and Newman at odds over Busch race incident

Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart had two of the fastest cars in Friday night’s Diamond Hill Plywood 200 at Darlington Raceway, but they ended up beating on one another until each was knocked out of contention. That led to some minor oral fireworks following the race.
After the race, they offered different takes on what had happened. Asked if he’d been hit by Newman, Stewart responded:
“About five times,” he said matter-of-factly. “Five times this week about five times last week. Loudon last fall. I don’t know what I’ve done to him, but I didn’t think it was fair to do that. If I’ve done something to him, he needs to come talk to me about it. I didn’t choose the line, he chose where he wanted to come off the corner, he came off high behind another car and pinned himself in and then he decided he was going to try to move us out of the way.
“I don’t know if we did something we don’t know about or what, but he took one of the best race cars out there today and put a strike against it and put us at the back.”
Newman, obviously, had a different view.
“He bounced off of me four times on the straightaway, he hit me off Turn 2 just two laps before that and just about spun me around. Tony, sometimes his mouth gets me in trouble, sometimes his driving gets him in trouble and we’ll see what happens next,” Newman said with a laugh.
When told that Stewart referenced previous incidents and the five hits, Newman continued to put a light spin on the situation.
“I didn’t know he could count that high,” he said. “I hit him in the bumper, he cut right on me on a circle race track where you turn left and that ain’t cool.”

Stewart needs to look back at the replay and see that NEWMANs car never moved. Tony repeatedly bounced off NEWMAN. Tony never likes to take responsibility for something he does!! Grow up SMOKE!

Its pretty obvious… Newman can only make fast laps when no other cars are on the track. There is rubbing in racing and I guess Newman never heard about that. Newman’s poor decision making caused the incident with Tony. Tony wasn’t too brilliant either, but Newman doesn’t have any room to talk. STFU Newman.
I didn’t know “sissy” was still in the popular lexicon. It’s always fun listening to bull-headed Hoosiers bicker.
It’s not a demolition derby out there but these guys are getting paid a lot of money to drive, whether they are bumped or not. If someone does get bumped, that’s racing. It used to be a lot of fun watching the drivers banging and bumping around the track. Now its getting kind of boring watching everyone turn left and watching yellow’s at the end of the race determining the winner because your not allowed to hit another driver. Let em race.
Tony is a big trouble maker and when ever he cant win he takes it out on someone. If he keeps on I think they should bar him from racing hes such a baby. I cant get over the fact his Gibbs teammate younger than he is so much more mature and so much more a man.
I wouldn’t say his teammates are more mature its just no one currently has the balls to display their feelings like Tony does. Sure it might be annoying to some, but you can guarantee he’s not being fake. That is how he feels. We should be lucky enough to have more drivers like that.
Newman has his own form of trouble making, ban him.
Let’s ban every driver who whines or causes trouble and not allow obnoxious fans to buy tickets. ^sarcasm
Another Tony bashing fest because some people are to sensitive. You all want to crucify Tony from bumping people yet when Sr. did the same thing everyone cheered.
Senior always had his detractors too and wasn’t nearly as popular during much of his career as he was later. He still has detractors to this day. They call what Senior did at times, “dirty racing.” I call that superior car control.
Senior found acceptance, I think Tony is finding his… Maybe even Gordon will find some one day.
