UPDATE 2:
Interviewed on Sirius NASCAR Radio’s Sirius Speedway Tuesday, Davis once again denied reports that Jacques Villeneuve or his agent, Craig Pollock, have purchased the team, saying that he and his wife maintain 100% ownership.

UPDATE:
What Villeneuve might be doing in NASCAR is still a subject of debate. According to some familiar with the situation, Villeneuve may be coming into the sport for a short-time run as a driver but as a long-term run as an investor/owner. Just what role NASCAR executives might have in this is unclear, though obviously NASCAR is the big winner in the deal, which enhances their new Canadian venture. Last year, Villeneuve and Pollack began talking about setting up their own NASCAR operation and talked with Ford’s Jack Roush and Geoff Smith about a deal for cars, engines and start-up stuff. But it never got very far. Roush said that Villeneuve wanted to take the quickest road to the Cup tour, while Roush suggested he spend more time in Busch to learn the sport.

Jacques Villeneuve has apparently completed a buy-in of Bill Davis’ High Point-based Toyota operation, according to sources close to the team, and Villeneuve will have at least a majority interest in the operation, perhaps even full ownership.
Last Sunday, when asked about the report of a planned Villeneuve buy-in, Davis said he wasn’t in a position to give a specific answer but did say he was considering a number of options. It is unclear what a purchase price might be.
It is also unclear why Villeneuve, who lives in Montreal, would want to buy a NASCAR team, or if Villeneuve might move the team from High Point, where Davis has operated for more than 15 years.

I LOL’d at that part. He wants to buy a team so that he cant be fired. But if you look at his past he was involved with something like that and it was called British-American Racing (in 1999)
Give this guy credit. He has a great racing pedigree. His dad was a great racer. Jacques won the Indy 500 at age 25. He became a Formula 1 champ racing against guys like Schumacher. He is a recording star too, yet for all his accomplishments, seems humble and genuine. His resume is superior to Montoya’s or Franchitti’s. He ran out of worlds to conquer so he chose NASCAR because he likes the level of competition. Then he bought a team. A Toyota team. He is not afraid of stumbling. Wouldn’t it be refreshing if more of our sports millionaire drivers invested in themselves? I know many of them have failed but give guys like Robby and Jacques credit. They deserve it.
It is just funny because F1 drivers make sooooooo much money, that one would decide he was
going to buy and race in NASCAR
F1 drivers dont make that much money. Really they make the same amount as your regular top 10 cup drivers.

This coment could not be further than the truth. Schumacher was the
highest paid athlete in the world when he was racing, still made
70 mil last year after retirement. F1 drivers make a tremendous amount of money.

Yup. Supposedly Kimi Raikkonen’s deal at Ferrari is $51mil a year, Ralf Schumacher is around $16mil, and I think Massa is around $10mil. Don’t know what any NASCAR drivers make, but I’d be shocked if anyone was remotely close to $51mil!
