Brian FranceIf rumblings are to be believed NASCAR may soon have a new CEO.

According to some there is speculation inside International Speedway Corporation that current NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France will step down from his post ‘in days’ to make room for his uncle, Jim France.

The conjecture is that the growth of the sport has stagnated to point where a change at the helm is necessary. TV ratings are down and several attempts to build new speedways in different regions of the country have been thwarted.

Brian France assumed the role of CEO from his late father, Bill France Junior, in October 2003. He instituted several changes in NASCAR including the Chase for the Nextel Cup.

Jim France is currently Vice Chairman and executive vice president of NASCAR and the Chairman and CEO of ISC the parent company of NASCAR.

Lesa France, sister of Brian who is currently vice president and treasurer of NASCAR and president of ISC, would also assume a new role under the management shuffle

What role Brian France would assume isn’t clear although he would remain within the company.

Thank you God, my prayers have been answered! I’m with you ganjadude… GOOD RIDDANCE! Hopefully Uncle Jim isn’t the blundering moron that Brian is.

To say that the growth of the sport has stagnated under Brian is the understatement of the year!

  3. 3 KK

I sure hope this is true!!!!

  4. 4 BFDracing

HORAY! I can tune into NASCAR again with out falling asleep!

    Anyone is better than him!

  5. 5 Barry

Thats great news. While I liked some of his ideas he pretty much has been the worse thing to happen to Nascar since it began

  6. 6 Wayne

They could use a TOTAL restructure…..clean house and reassignment of some of those who think those they know how to run things.

  7. 7 Butterfly

*whew* This is great news! Now perhaps NASCAR will stop sucking.
Let’s all pray that the ‘incompetent nincompoop’ gene isn’t one that Uncle Jim inherited…

GOOD!!!!!!! I hate what Mr. France has done to this sport…
It is no longer a fun sport. It is sooooo cut throat!

  9. 9 Bob

Bout time I say, Good riddance to bad management is always a good thing.
Best of luck to uncle Jim…

  10. 10 Trey

Dang, this is a relief. I hope Uncle Jim does a much better job than Brian. Though, that probably won’t be too hard to accomplish. I wonder if the points system/chase system will change again for the 3rd consecutive year.

  11. 11 chris

It’s about time. Maybe Uncle Jim will change some of the things back to the way they were. If he turns out to be even remotely like Brian, then we might as well say good bye to NASCAR!!!!

please somebody save NASCAR……..peace out Brian the terrible……..maybe Darlington will get the respect she deserves and be put in the chase..

Good riddance!!! All I ask is keep Mike Helton where hes at but the rest can go!!! And Brian, don’t let the door hit you on the @** on the way out!!

  14. 14 Lee

Thank god its about time that booze hound stepped aside and stopped ruining nascar.

  15. 15 Simone

Fa la la la la…la la la la! Christmas just came early and this by far is the best present ever! He has run this sport into the ground and it is most certainly time for a change. I never thought there would come the day that I would start to get bored with Nascar but let’s just say I’ve been less than enthused by Brian’s mediocre business decisions as of late…yawn. Brian…buh bye!

Get rid of the Chase!! Ever since the chase all we hear about is the contenders. What about the rest of the field? Look at the trouble the drivers are getting into because of this chase. Its too much stress and it made NASCAR BORING. Dumb IDEA!! BABYE Brian. My opinion get a a driver at the helm, afterall they seem to know whats needed to improve the sport with the times.

As anxious as I am about this, remember everyone, this is just speculation.
Don’t get your hopes up just yet. Interesting though.
    Hope it’s true :]

Thank you Jesus! My prayer has been answered! Now about those lottery numbers.

  19. 19 Tom

Finally! Maybe NASCA can become competitive again. It used to be a proving grounds for automotice inventions. Now all that intoventiveness has been stiffled in favor of pack type racing. The way things are progressing….the teams will go to the track….pick up their car and add their logos. Really now…is that racing or a show?

although this would be awesome i will reserve my comments until there is an official update

  21. 21 Ed

Get rid of the chase. Get rid of the top 35 and all other exclusionary aspects of the sport. Race in west only at Vegas, Texas, one Fontana and Sonoma.

Please get rid of Rap and the new Rock N Roll. Bring back country at all of the ISC tracks, especially Daytona. Start races earlier. 1:00pm EST for day races and 7:30pm EST. In case NASCAR hasn’t figured it out yet, California and the west doesn’t like NASCAR. The attendence at Vegas is made up of travlers. LET’S GET BACK TO RACING!!!

  22. 22 Quirky

Too bad he won’t take Helton with him!!!

  23. 23 Mary

I so enjoyed reading everyone’s comments and
    agree with them all!!

Nascar can use some folks with the last name
AMERICAN the France’s about f’ed the Car out of NASCAR

wish it was possible to get all of them out of there
and see some REAL RACING again!!

  24. 24 Anonymous

BRING BACK TWO MORE RACES, The Rock and Darlington !! Start the races are 1pm. Stop getting paid under the table to put a winner and CC on the board each year France.

Throw out the Africa Music and New Rock. bring back Country Music and the Roots of this Sport !

So they have to drive two more races, look at baseball and NBA, they play tons of games each season. The France family needs to Read the Yells from the Frans and listening and stop looking that the Money.. They are blind to what the Fans are saying.

I hope something good comes of this change because Stock Car Racing is going down the drain FAST………………

  25. 25 Earl

I sure hope the rumor is right! This guy is killing NASCAR!!

  26. 26 Katelyn Registered User

Brian France?? … hahaha i have a few phrases about that guy I’d LOVE to share with the public…

maybe not on a message board though, haha.

  27. 27 LAHarmony

Thank Goodness! I hope it is true! I am so tired of Nascar trying to make each car exactly alike and not allowing the teams to experiment and “tinker”. The rules are too tight! I am not sure I like the COT. I think the car manufacturers are not able to show what their cars can really do… That is why Nascar only has Chevy, Ford, Dodge and now Toyota. Remember the good ol’ days when every car manufacturer had cars in races and you could tell what kind of car it was just by looking at it. Now, they only way I know what kind of car it is, is by looking at the TV screen and read what type the driver drives for. They are all the same. It sucks.
