Ryan NewmanStewart Haas Racing is scheduled to make a sponsorship announcement regarding Ryan Newman in 2010 on Sunday morning. One possibility is Bass Pro Shops, though no announcement has been made of a decision by that company to leave Earnhardt Ganassi. Bass Pro Shops currently sponsors Martin Truex Jr.’s #1 Chevy. Truex is leaving for Michael Waltrip Racing in 2010.

Or the other possibility is that it’s to announce that the Army (which is a yearly contract) renewed for next year for both the 39 car and whatever NHRA car they sponsor. ;)

Fisha they already announced that today! Ryan told the person interviewing him during quals this evening the Army renewed for them and the NHRA. He was wearing a “Tornados” on his shirt when he was interviewed later this evening and hinted it had something to do with their announcement tomorrow. It would not surprise me if Bass Pro does join SHR. They’ve been with Smoke for a long time on his USAC and WOO teams and of course sponsored his late model for Eldora and other races he runs (Chili Bowl etc).

Yeah I saw him say that about the army (just caught the real last part of it) so I figured tomorrow would be the official announcement.

    From Jayski.
UPDATE: not Bass Pro Shops but………Tornados foods will be the primary sponsor of Ryan Newman’s #39 Chevy next April at PIR and at four other races.(Arizona Republic)(11-13-2009)

Personally I think Bass Pro will stay in place at EGR for next year in hopes that either Jamie gets dumped for another driver, or they bring a 3rd driver into the fold that fits the mold better. Although IMO it makes more sense for Bass Pro to stick with Jamie then to go with an “outdoorsman”. I mean think about it, if you are an outdoorsman you are already buying you stuff at BPS or Cabelas or Gander Mtn, so those people don’t need to be “told” to go to that kind of store. But if you appeal to Jamies “crowd” you get the people who go camping once or twice a year and maybe go to the local stream to fish with some old buddies from high-school every now and then. Those people though usually just go to places like Walmart or Target, but BPS would rather them spend money at BPS.

So….. Bass Pro is staying at EGR through at least the 2010 season as was always scheduled to.

Monte Dutton (the writer of the article) was just trying to stir up “blank” in hopes that he’ll be able to replace mike mulhern one day…..
