Raines fined, loses points for throwing helmet

NASCAR officials have penalized Tony Raines, driver of the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. entry in the Busch Series, for throwing his helmet at a competitor in Saturday’s race at Dover International Speedway.
Raines was fined $15,000 and penalized 25 drivers points for actions detrimental to stock-car racing for entering the race track surface without authorization and for throwing his helmet at Robby Gordon’s car. Gordon and Raines were involved in a crash that knocked Raines out of the race. After Raines climbed from his smoke-filled car, he launched the helmet at Gordon’s car, which was driving around the track under caution.

Team owner DeLana Harvick was penalized 25 owners points as well.
That was a really dumb move on Tony’s part. He should have waited till after the race and when Gordon was out of his car. THEN he would have had a better chance at hitting something. As it was he missed the car of Gordon and now has a fine with nothing to show for it except a tore up race car and a banged up helmet.
Ah I really miss the good old days when drivers waited till AFTER a race to have a spirited debate and settle any on track disagreements. Now you are encouraged to be respectful with your actions or big daddy will ban you from any future involvement in the show.

Don’t be so sure about that. Tony is a BIG boy who was really pissed at Robbie.
Oh and Robbie, he has had one coming from someone for a very long time.
He is an over grown juvenile delinquent with a chip on his shoulder the size of a car.
