The qualifying times VS the actual starting grid is a perfect example of why Nascar needs to drop the top 35 in owner points automatically getting into a race. Drivers outside the top 35 clearly blew away some Chase contenders in qualifying, yet they have to sit out of the race. Doesn’t seem fair to me. I feel they should do away with the owner’s points rule and the champions provisional. Make is straight out the best qualifiers are in.

Well, if they got rid of impounds, there wouldn’t be any advantages to guys with full qualifying setups.

i agree. the crazy lineup is due to the impound rule, not the top 35. all of those teams are running minimum wing(10* i think) which can make the car very loose in the draft. they are also running thinner oil and gear lube, all for minimum drag. im nit sure if you can do much with shocks/spring at a plate track for a qual setup and with the gear rule that cant be it. but those cars are not set up in a race trim and i am very worried about the start of the race, the experience and talent at the front of the field, or lack thereof could result in disaster.

i still think the top 35 rule is ridiculous as well. but honestly, without it i would imagine even less of the small teams would have made the field. if all the top drivers in the back who got in on points had to get in on speed i am sure they would have run more aggressive setups/laps and a lot of those toyotas would be going home.

I am still confused on this i know there is not 51 cars racing.
So What is the actual start postions for the race?
and who is starting where and who was the go home drivers

Its still not right to run 3 MPH faster than 5 cars that get a FREE PLACEMENT into the race and you go home. So much for helping new or smaller teams have a chance. Nascar needs to make the rule “the top 20 is guaranteed to make the field , everybody else has to qualify.

i do agree with a top 20 would be good!
then i would have a better chance of seeing Ward race more!
but i still have yet to be able to find the line up for the race
