World Speed Records have been set at Bonneville for years. For Land Speed Record fans, Bonneville is there Daytona. They run all types of cars, motorcycles, etc there. It’s about testing the limits of machine and seeing what you can make it do. You souldn’t bash it just because you don’t understand it. Hopefully things learned about aerodynamics during these runs can eventually make it over to the Cup level.

Oh I understand and appreciate (for the most part) exactly what they do there. I understand strapping a rocket in a car and going somewhere that there’s 50 miles of road and seeing how fast that car can go. I don’t see what the point of taking a stock car there is. So what? They don’t take Tom Brady to some Boston high school and let him set the record for touchdowns in a single game, so why take a stock car to a place that it doesn’t belong and say it’s the record for stock car speed? Be a freaking man and do it on a racetrack - ANY racetrack - and I’ll be impressed.

I do remember this test, it was held in Ohio at what is now the Honda test track. I agree, this record is lame if its not on a track of some sort.
