Woman suing NASCAR has spotty background

The former racing official who has accused NASCAR of racial discrimination and sexual harassment in a $225 million lawsuit had a restraining order filed against her by a former boyfriend and was arrested for driving under the influence. Mauricia Grant, who filed her suit against NASCAR in June, also was charged with driving with a suspended license while still employed as a technical inspector for NASCAR’s second-tier Nationwide Series.
Court documents reviewed by The AP showed that Grant has legal issues dating back to a 2002 restraining order filed by an ex-boyfriend.
Willie Lowery was granted a temporary restraining order by the Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging Grant threatened his life and harassed him with repeated phone calls at home and at work.
“She has made many threats on my life and job. She called my job … up to six times attempting to slander my name and have me fired,” Lowery wrote in his request for protection. “She has been spotted in front of my home on several occasions. She has contacted all of my family and friends attempting to make threats and slander my name. She has also contacted my current girlfriend and I feel she is in jeopardy as well.”
The restraining order was granted and naturally expired. Lowery, who once filed for a business license with Grant for an apparel company, could not be reached at a phone number listed in court documents.
Grant also was jailed for two days in July 2004, for driving under the influence in Los Angeles. She pleaded no contest a month later, but failed to meet the terms of her probation and a bench warrant was issued for her arrest in January 2005.
A spokesman for the public relations firm representing Morelli and Grant in this suit said the case was never settled because Grant began working for NASCAR and was busy traveling for her new job. It was unclear Thursday if the issue had been resolved, and Morelli did not make Grant available to the AP.
Grant also was charged with driving with a suspended license in Atlanta last October while working for NASCAR. She was fired later that month, and NASCAR has declined to reveal why Grant was terminated.

that wasnt ripper
i left rippers message thats how much this site is on it
sorry ripper
Are we supposed to be surprised by these revelations? No. Just give her a few hundred thousand and be done with her, not millions.
Are they not smart enough to check these people out before they hire them? Use the common employer methods and contact previous employers etc.
Maybe if nascar didn’t have their underwear in a wad to diverisfy..quick…now..whatever the cost,
they would check applicants out more thoroughly. You get what you pay for…now pay the bill.
I maintain that diversity programs are nothing more than reverse discrimination.
And what the heck is Ripper talking about…give her a car??
What does prior incidents have to do with the
issue of whether she was discriminated against
by “good old boys” at NASCAR?? Typical to
blame the victim — especially a female victim…..
until we have all the facts i am holding judgment. Who are we but some guys on the net? the only person who MAY have some insight would be howie

It’s not typical NASCAR, it’s typical of any Defendant. They’re trying to infer that she has terrible judgment (DUI, driving w/ suspended license, restraining order, violation of probation). They use that to say that if she has such poor character and poor judgment, then what’s to stop her from making this stuff up to get back at NASCAR for firing her? The more they can make a jury believe that type of stuff, the more likely they are to not side with her.
I’m not saying either side is right or wrong. We’ll let the court attempt to figure that one out!

Along with what Jeff said, it’s a case where the defendant is trying
to say that this “victim” has an unreasonable history, and that she may be
the type of person that will take any little window of opportunity
to get her benefit. And I’m not talking career opportunity, more of
a “hey, that guy spilled his hot coffee on me, give me 15 mill.!”

What does her being a female have to do with anything,Im not saying she wasnt done wrong but nobody here knows the real story, she did have a restraining order against her was arrested for dui and was charged with driving on a suspended license after that, evidently she has very poor judgement most companies would fire you for that regardless if its a man or woman so who knows maybe she made the stuff up,not saying she did or didnt but lets be honest theres always somebody trying to cash in.
tell her to get over it she just probably p/o’d cuz she got axed, maybe she just didnt do her job and thats why she is where she is i am a female and was the only female on my fire department so yeah i do know about being a woman in a male dominated occupation, i dont get her justification for 225 million, dont think she deserves it not to mention the fact that maybe she is just out for a buck…maybe not but i havent heard anything to prove one way or the other and i am just tired of people actin like they are owed something for a whole lot of nothing.
First she lied on her app. she drove NASCAR Official Trucks without a license. she was a criminal who did not disclose she was on probation because the social she used was 2 digits off from her real one and NASCAR did not get a negative report because of that and basically she pulled a fast one on NASCAR and now it is backfiring on her. look for this one to disappear
BJWONDERWOMAN
This has nothing to do with her being a woman, its with her beind an idiot, but due to our unfortunate laws in this country we are no longer allowed to hire people based on there work ethic or experience, now we have to hire people so we meet a quota of ethnicicty or gender, so we no longer get the people who deserve the job we get people who expect the job and expect us as owners and employers to obey what they say, cause if we dont they can throw the race or gender card, while they sit back do half the job they are required to because they know they are basically “untouchable”.
before you say this was an issue with good ole boys and women, maybe you should click on the link below

That article has nothing to do with this woman just another woman in general…
Jason
I was simply making a point how the entire speculation about it being discrimination against her because she was a woman was crazy cause heres a situation where im sure a women couldnt have obtained that position if the good ole boys were out to get women
