War of words escalates between Eury, Jr and NASCAR

“Theoretically, most penalties written severe enough to include a suspension also include a probation,” he said. “If Tony Jr. keeps running his yap we could easily send him home for another six weeks.” -NASCAR’s John Darby
Warning to suspended crew chiefs: Come to the track if you dare. Just don’t brag about it.
That was the message delivered by Nextel Cup series director John Darby prior to Thursday’s practice at Daytona International Speedway.
“Personally, I don’t care if he’s watching a race from the grandstands,” Darby said. “When a crew chief that went through that is bold enough to throw it back at us, we’ll react to it.”
NASCAR chairman Brian France said on Tuesday that the governing body had a meeting to address the issue of suspended crew chiefs who continue to do their jobs from locations at the track but outside of the garage.
The meeting came after Tony Eury Jr., the crew chief for Dale Earnhardt Jr., said he worked with the team last week at New Hampshire from a motorcoach on a hill overlooking the track.
Eury said on Thursday he was at five of the six races — including three in a motorcoach in the infield and one in a suite at Lowe’s Motor Speedway — after NASCAR suspended him for having an illegal rear wing mount at Darlington.
The only race he missed was the road course event in Sonoma, Calif., because he didn’t want to ask the motorcoach driver to make a cross-country trip.
While Darby said it is almost impossible to police such activity, he did leave the possibility of further suspension if it is thrown in NASCAR’s face.
“Theoretically, most penalties written severe enough to include a suspension also include a probation,” he said. “If Tony Jr. keeps running his yap we could easily send him home for another six weeks.”

WHOOOH i hate Jr. and all of DEI but got Tony Eury man,
what about the freedom of speech?
Big Brother is watching you man!!!!!
Oh for f__k’s sake. There’s a difference between being a bit power-
drunk and being completely insane. Anyone who owns a sports franchise
generally gets a little too far up their own a__ for a period of time,
but have these guys started using PCP or something? They have completely
lost their minds. Big Brother is exactly what they’re turning
into. “Theoretically”. Pfft. That just means “Even though we didn’t
include probation originally, we can add that in now so we can further
suspend him because hey, who’s here to stop us? Mwahahaha.” Give it a
rest already; the entire Nascar world is mocking you. We want racing,
not a weekly reminder of why totalitarianism doesn’t work.
Wait wait wait, I just caught this:
If Tony Jr. keeps running his yap we could easily send him home
for another six weeks.
Hey bubba, isn’t the point of all this the fact that “sending them
home” doesn’t do a d__n thing? So in all reality, where’s the threat
in that? Man, he isn’t any smarter than Brian France.
Freedom of speech has long been dead in this country. It no longer exists. Think about all the people who walk on eggshells at work and can’t voice an opinion because they’re afraid to get fired. I give Tony Jr credit for stepping up and saying something. Suspend Tony Jr Darby and watch that black eye Nascar has right now get even bigger.
What drama?
Wow, talk about stupid. They are just mad that someone is actually saying something about the penalties, and how they have no room to maneuver with the COT. NASCAR seems alittle power happy to me right now.
Breanna: Tony Jr. is on probation till the end of the year for the wing bracket penility, but that is not the point here. The suspinsion rule only says that the suspended person can not enter a area that needs Nascar I D It doesn’t say they cant be at the track or that they cant have contact with the crew on race weekend.. So in all fairness they didn’t do anything wrong, What nascar is mad at is that they were out smarted and it became a big deal in the media and Nascar looks like the Fools they are becoming.I don’t think Nascar should have any controll over what these teams do outside of the racing area, when there not there they are United states cetizines not Nascar competitors and they have several Rights that I think Nascar is trying to take away from them , like with Tony Jr. His freedom of speech and opinion and his freedon to go to a Nascar race as a Fan and set on privot property in his motor home and watch the race. Nascar Will have a big problem if they try to change the rules to keep them away from the track area during the race cause it will be violating there civil rights and that could open up a big can of worms
It’s not so much that he’s speaking out against the penalties as it is that he’s bragging about bending the rules. The 24 and 48 crew chiefs bent the rules and got suspended. Eury Jr. broke the rules one and bent then during his reprimand for breaking the rules. I’m a proud member or Jr Nation, but, I wouldn’t be too upset if Eury was suspended again. Who knows how things are going to work out next year as far as Eury being Jrs crew chief at HMS, maybe getting used to working with others might be a good thing.
A civil rights charge to go along with the 2 lawsuits , now i’m Begining to see a way out for the teams. Put NASCAR on the defensive instead of them being on the offence. Bury them in legal paper work and maby the leash on Darby will get real short.
FAT CHANCE, NASCAR always win’s, just ask they love to tell anybody that will listen that it’s there ball game and if you don’t like it just pick up your marbles and go home because the games over for you !!
You go Tony Jr. tell them what you think… then pick up your marbles.
like the king said in his book. if you are going to get an advantage, ( keep it to your self) dont brag about it! we all know that loose lips sink ships.
I thought nascar just said that the team chiefs could go anywhere they want just so they dont come into the areas that nascar controls, well they control the stands parking areas are lot of other places, so if I was tony jr and they kept harrasing me I would sue the hell out of them. nascar the (kastopo) of todays world.
Haha…Eury your punk ass just got owned! I can’t stand Dale Jr. but Tony Gibson did a whole helluva lot better job as Crew Chief on that car than you ever have…
NASCAR has lost its mind. Go Lewis Hamilton!
Well atleast the new NASCAR game from EA sports looks kinda good. Other than that Im done with NASCAR because of stupid crap like this. The teams should get together and form a seperate sanctioning body as was considered in Formula One to have fair races.
Actually here is a good thing to compare.

notice that every race has dropped since Nextel became sponsor in 2004 and Brian France became head honcho. Interesting Aye?
nascar is becoming ran by money and totalitarianism. NASCAR doesn’t control anything or anywhere except those areas that require credentials to enter. Everything else is the track’s responsibility.I think it’s a good thing eury spoke out, it’s about time somebody stood up and spoke up. Lets kick Brian out, get nascar and ISC broken up to 2 completely different companies, and bring back laborday darlington, rockingham, and cut pocono down to 1 race.
formula one fair races??? hahahaha those races are even more borin that nascar is. i do agree on wat u said about nextel an brian france.
This is hilarious… I bet Darby is fuming in some office some where at this very moment… “his yap..” What a douche bag thing to say. It sounded to me like Eury, Jr. was trying to help NASCAR by pointing out some of their inadequacies. Does anyone else get the feeling that NASCAR is close to losing its grip? If Letarte and Chad joined Eury, Jr. that would be a powerful voice that NASCAR would have a hard time controlling.
NASCAR sure does get their feelings hurt easy. They shouldn’t be surprised when people in the sport speak out against them when they treat their competitors with such little respect. I know they’re gonna say something to Tony like, “Well, you should have brought it to us in private.” Yeah, right! I’m sure Darby or Pemberton would have cleared their schedules to listen to Eury, Jr… ha!
this is sad. the cup series has become a bunch of babies. what needs to happen here is just like what happened to irl/champ car and a major sprint car series years ago. some of these drivers need to split off, get back to their roots and stop whining like a bunch of babies. reinstate tracks like n wilsboro and darlington and quit whining!!!!
lets hope nascar fans keep letting THEIR voice heard by not attending races and not watching anymore.brian”d*****bag” france and his cronies are destroying our love and passion for this sport.freedon of speech is non-existent in this sport.if u dont agree with the almighty france family’s monopolized sport they will cut you down.even the biggest loudmouth-stewart had his larynx removed after he called them out about the debris cautions.it is sad where this is all ending up but maybe the france family and theresa earnhardt can combine their resources after all is said and done and sell t-shirts.their wont be anything left with the way both are running their businesses.kudos to tony eury jr for speaking out and if any repercussions come about,it would be nice if fans started letting their feelings heard by picketing tracks-oh wait thats right that wont work because the almighty frances will have everyone arrested for having the audacity to speak their mind in front of their tracks.6 1/2 years before nascar will hit rock bottom my prediction in ‘04 of 10 years and nascar will be at rock bottom is coming to fruition.screw you brian france!!!!!!!!!!
now if he was at home he could just watch the race on tv and then get an even better view of whats going on and then call them through cell phones…..theres no way around it
I think it is time the owners and teams went on strike! Form a sit-in and watch Nascar lose a ton of money! I’m not real sure if it would work but I bet they would sure take notice! They are no one without the owners, crews and drivers….They can drive around the tracks but no one would watch. Think about it…HELL NO!!! WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!!
NASCAR has grown too big for it’s britches.
like nascar sed and i hate to be on their side but braging about somthing
you shouldent be telling any body is not very smart and is not gowing
to help the jr8 none unless their just trying to keep off what is realy gowing to happen to the budwieser sponcer and the #8# i just dont think any body would try to hert their own team non no less famaily but we will never no just give us somthing els to side trackall
any body whatching the speed chanel how boutgh that fish an derale wippy
nascarsbest8, nice to see you got a new keyboard.
THE COMBINED IQ OF NASCAR OFFICERS IS -100.
Nascar now has its own verson of the Three Stooges > Mike Helton, John Darby and Brian France. OOOHHH a wise guy aaayyy, you keep runnen your yap and I’ll gives ya a suspension “woop woop woop”
don’t forget the fourth stooge: Robin Pemberton.
A Pemberton quote which seems relevant since he is VP of competition: “We can do a lot of different things; we choose to do things carefully and to not put ourselves in a box.”
Seems like when NASCAR finds their self in a box they just break it and wait to find themselves in a new one. I guess you can never be at fault if you don’t recognize you do any wrong or squash any voice who points out your errors.
Wilkesboro will never be reinstated ISC bought it to close it down and now it’s in too bad of shape to race on
