Brian Vickers is recovering from first- and second-degree burns to his feet and buttocks suffered during Sunday’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
A team spokesperson confirmed today that Vickers will race in this weekend’s Goody’s Cool Orange 500 at Martinsville Speedway.
An exhaust pipe located under the seat of Vickers’ No. 83 Team Red Bull Toyota broke during the race, and heat poured into the drivers compartment.
Vickers decided to continue driving the car, and crewmen gave him ice packs and shields during pit stops. He finished 15th.
