Martin Truex Jr. earned his first career Nextel Cup pole Friday afternoon, qualifying at 193.106 mph to earn the No. 1 spot for Sunday’s Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.
“We have been second a bunch this year, so we’ve been close,” said Truex, who had started on the outside of Row 1 at Chicagoland, New Hampshire and Martinsville. “This is our favorite car.”
Truex made the Chase for the Nextel Cup this year, but after leading a race-high 135 laps before getting in a late-race crash at Atlanta last weekend he has dropped to 12th in the standings.

Good job Martin! Got your first win and your first pole out of the way, now it’s time to get that first championship
Yep… sure shows that DEI does have powerful cars.
Yeah, maybe they have powerful cars, but we’ll see if the motor can last the whole race
It’s usually Jr.’s care that has problems.. oh wait forgot about Paul Menard.. Ok so Truex seems to have the most reliable car Lol.
