Martin TruexAs far as his contract status with DEI, which intends to pick up his option, Truex said those talks took a backseat after the Daytona infraction. “Certainly, last week . . . I said to myself, this isn’t the first thing on my list,” Truex said of his contract.

“Through this week, we’ve had great meetings about what happened, how we want to fix it, the direction we’re headed as a race team, and so hopefully this week we’ll get back to talking about the rest of that stuff. It’s been going well. There’s just been a lot of other things on the plate as a race team to figure out.”

He did not rule out he could be a candidate for the second team at the newly formed Stewart-Haas Racing. “I guess if you look around the garage, anybody who doesn’t have a contract signed for next year you have to look at as a candidate . . . for that deal right now,” Truex said.

i would be happy to see truex join stewart, my second favorite driver(truex) along with my girlfriends favorite driver(stewart)

well if truex goes anywhere it wont be with stewart…its more likely he would end up at RCR than Haas…but i dont see why he would even THINK about staying at DEI….i swear they are like the most penalized team in the series for this COT

Actually unless haas buys the points from another team it
will be hard to fill that seat with a championship caliber
    driver.

I hope Martin will take over in the 20. I would like to see JGR
let Joey run the full Nationwide series next year and then start
him in the Cup Series in 2010.

I think if Stewart Haas Racing is going to a three-car team (could be possible as the GM said on SPEED today that they are expanding when asked about hiring new people), that would be good for Truex, he should look at leaving DEI and going somewhere different, its time for change. The #12 is open pending Newman leaving, the #33 is open, the #20 is open, and some possible additions with Penske Racing going to a fourth car team.

JGR will never hire Martin for the 20 position, we already know that Joey is going to that car with Greg as a crew chief.

I hope Truex leave that sinking ship before it’s too late. DEI
