Penske could also merge with Waltrip Racing
Toyota remains one of the big stories bubbling in the NASCAR garage, and it may be ready to make some big, bold moves for 2008, according to Detroit sources.
Toyota, sources said, has approached the Gibbs team with a proposal to leave Chevrolet, which would give it #20-Tony Stewart, #11-Denny Hamlin and #18-J.J. Yeley. Gibbs’ management doesn’t appear to be that interested, but the offer hasn’t been rejected, according to team sources.
Penske [#2, #12], who has been with just about every manufacturer in racing over the years and who is one of the world’s biggest Toyota dealers, could be making the move to Toyota for next year. According to sources close to the situation, Penske could be looking at a merger with Michael Waltrip’s struggling Toyota operation.
And there is speculation that Robert and Doug Yates [#38, #88] may be willing to listen to Toyota offers, even though they have long-standing ties with Ford.

nascar and the united states would both be a better place without the jap scrap——- they are putting alot of our people out of work—-its Pearl harbor all over,,,,,, just in another way…Jack roush is the only one i’m 100% sure won’t go to toyota…….
tony wont let that happen. he’d go to dodge before toyota
Wake up and get your facts straight…..The Toyota they are using is made here as is the truck. I DON’T them in Nascar either but it Happened get over it anyway they haven’t won a race yet. Ford & Chevy build their cars in Mexico and Canada they are the ones who put people out of work. Hell even Subaru is making cars in the US as well as Honda they could be in NASCAR next and Honda has thought about trying. Remember for NASCAR its all about the CASH and they need plenty of it and a fresh supply but they will end up being their own worst enemy in the end.
Gibbs wont change, Chevy is a proven winner in the series why end up looking like BDR and the other struggling Toyotas. I think they are pitching to these teams because they know that the teams they are currently with have no shot at winning, except maybe Red Bull.
Yea…GM is the ones putting Americans out of work…NOT Toyota! STILL… I will be very pissed if Gibbs moves to the Toyota but I am sure he will not! At this point I just want someone besides a Hendrick driver to win for God’s sake! I am fuckin sick of all those drivers. Mears is ok, but Gordon Johnson and Busch need to be put in the wall more often. I was over joyed last weekend to see Gordon pouting from that crash…I love it! Anyways… Chevy is the dominant manufacturer and we all know that! Toyota is just getting worried because all their drivers suck! If I was in charge of Toyota I would be doing the same.
Toyota needs to go back across the ocean and die.
Aaron, why get angry because Hendrick drivers are winning?
So they did their homework, & the others didn’t. Yell at
them! I pat them on the back, and say good work guys.
The others will catch up & than you won’t be so bored!
I am more interested when Dale Jr. & Tony Stewart catch up.
Hamlin should have won, they took a pit stop & some did not.
You blame Gordon for that? Why not give credit where credit
is due.
No more, just my thinking, & I give you the right to have
your own thoughts. Just reasoning with you.
I wish GM would bring back Pontiac!!!!
Dodge is more foreign than Toyota is now.
Tony won a championship in a Pontiac for Gibbs… He could do it in a Toyota.
I do wish Pontiac would come back, but seriously Toyota has years of work to make winning cars.
Before General Motors bought out Oldsmoblie, Chevy, Buick, Cadillac they where made here in the good old US of A. Now more and more GM cars are pieces of other country’s product. My family has all retired from Oldsmobile/General Motors. If the JAP Junk didn’t come to the good US of A we wouldn’t have to farm out our parts to other countries to compete with cheap material. The money that Toyota and the other foreign companies make they send back to their country but if we want our cars sold there they put on a big tariff.
the cot car will help Toyota be competitive next year……so, why not?
I really dont think the COT will help Toyota. But theres a chance.
Its inevitable…one by one car owners will fall to Toyota…if you cant beat them, join them. EVentually its going to be the Indycar series where you have one engine manufacturer and thats it. And when that day comes, it will be a great shame
Toyota today. Nissan or Honda tomorrow? Penske has been successful with every manufacturer he’s been with. He’s been successful at every level. Like him or not, the man is a winner and a visionary. I know Toyota has given Mikey everything he needs but talent and common sense. If Penske were to merge with that group, he gets to pick the drivers and make the hard decisions. He gives the whole organization credibilty that it sorely needs. Gibbs doesn’t want Budweiser but he’s listening to offers from Toyota. Whore! Tony could win with a shopping cart if he had to. I think all the players want to see Toyota win in the Cup series before jumping in. Stay tuned!
There is one big item Tony has been missing LADY LUCK.
He is not my favorite, but I think he is the around the best!
God help us when Toyota breaks thru.
There is no doubt “Mikey” is not the man his brother is
& needs help.
gigolo;I had to think twice about your statment “WHORE”!
Please don’t sell out TONY !!!!!!
Toyots won’t make it in Nascar!!! It’s all about Chevrolet!! When Toyota came to Nascar you didn’t see any Chevy teams switching to Toyota’s, only ford and dodge teams, Not chevrolet! Toyota will never over take Nascar!!!
