ToyotaToyota’s Lee White says his company was not involved in any talks with DEI: “We have not had any conversations with Dale Earnhardt Jr.

“There is a tremendous amount of both equity and liability involved with Dale Earnhardt Incorporated and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Chevrolet has such equity built into Dale Earnhardt Jr. and that particular race team - that equity is great for the bigger picture and the health of our sport.

Right now Toyota is not ready to take on the liability that would come with that scenario.”

Ok…DEI is insistent they have had talks to 2 manufacturers other than Chevy. Toyota says they have had NO discussions with DEI.

So either one of them is lying (why would they lie?) or…

DEI is talking to ANOTHER manufacturer.

There IS another manufacturer that has made noises about coming into NASCAR.

umm ok, they say they have talked to two manufactors, obviously on isnt Chevy, and Toyota
flat out tells that they are not, we know one is ford so who havent we mentioned? oh yeah Dodge,
the answer is right there, there talking to Dodge and Ford, why must we conspire that there talking
    to another manufacturer. lol, losers.

they’ll probably stay with chevy. i cant see them moving into any other manufacturer

Well, I know this may seem like a long shot, but Big “E” was a businessman and if he saw that his company could win Championships with power from another manufacture, like Robert Yates engines combined with the DEI power, he would make the change to Ford. The only reason he was with Chevy in the first place was the resources with RCR and the close relations he had with Chevy. So I could possibly see RYR and DEI merging and DEI changing to Ford.

DEI needs to keep with its root of running Chevys. The day they switch to Toyota, Dodge or Ford is the day I quit rooting for all DEI drivers. DEI has established a fan base with Chevy fans and if they switch manufactures they will loose fans. The only laibility is if DEI takes Toyota not the other way around

I heard Dale Jr say once that he will never drive anything except a Chevrolet, so if DEI says they are switching to Ford or Toyota or Dodge then I think that Dale Jr will leave DEI and go to RCR or a Chevy based team.

My opinion on this situation is DEI would never leave Chevy. It just wouldnt be a smart move. I think that they’re pulling a smart move talking to other companies. The name of the game is to keep your manufacturer on thier feet. Dont let them get content and think they simply own you. Im sure theres a lot more to the story than we know at the moment. Anything could be happened behind the scenes. Second off theres no way that DEI is in any position to be merging with another company. At least untill they get the contract dispute settled with Little E. No other team in thier right mind would take on the risk that the star of the team might not be back. I mean ya sure there are other reasons to merge but Little E is such a large money maker that it just makes a deal without him dumb. Plus Theresa doesnt wanna give up any power to Little E, could one seriously imagine her giving up even a little power to become partners with anyone else. I just dont see it happening at this time. Maybe down the road but just not now. Oh and if I turn out wrong and they do decide to merge with someone soon, I really think it would end up being with RCR. There just simply the two teams that are a perfect fit together. Even to this date they do a lot of co developing together. This started with Big E and I feel that the two teams have a professional connection but also an emotional one which would really be a major asset to both teams.

If DEI really goes to Toyota I would be in shock. Yes Toyota is my favorite manufacturer but I just don’t see DEI changing. When I think of DEI I think of Chevrolet Simple as that.

I believe the answer to the Editors comment is “Honda”. In Japan , Honda and Toyota compete at almost everything. Kinda like a Coke VS. Pepsi type thing. Almost everytime one of them goes to race in a racing series , a few years later the other one comes to try and knock them down. Lets here the uproar if a 2nd Japanense auto maker shows up in Nascar. You just thought people were pissed Sunday.

I think Dale sr started winning with chevy and his championship’s were with chevy Why change cars now? I think they need some new blood building the cars and motors. They need someone who is up to date on the new stuff coming down the line. And new brains that can put the engine’s together and hold up.

Justin.. the 2nd Japanese manufacturer? The Toyota Camry they are running is made in the
United States. But I know Dale Jr. would never drive anything other than Chevy. so if they
go with another manufacturer, he is gone.
