The “Thunderbirds” U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron will provide the flyover during the national anthem for the 50th running of the Daytona 500 on Feb. 17 at Daytona International Speedway.
This marks the first time the squadron will perform a flyover for a NASCAR Sprint Cup race at the track and will be the group’s first flyover of 2008.
“What an honor to have the amazing Thunderbirds take part in the kickoff to the 50th running of the Daytona 500,” said Speedway President Robin Braig. “Their involvement only reinforces the significance of the most anticipated racing event in motorsports.”
