Target to return as sponsor to Ganassi

Target has agreed to an extension that should afford him Chip Ganassi to run two Cup cars next season and Juan Pablo Montoya is committed to him. If he had lost either, as many had speculated would happen, the end indeed would be near. Ganassi president Steve Lauletta made it clear that Ganassi has no plans to merge.
He said that the organization without a doubt will field two teams next season and that, if sponsorship comes along, it easily could go to three or four teams. He could sign another open-wheel driver [to fill Sorenson's #41 ride], perhaps Dan Wheldon or Scott Dixon off his own IndyCar Series team. He could bring back Franchitti, which Lauletta said is a possibility based on the way Franchitti has performed in the Nationwide Series car.
- Ganassi could lose Target as sponsor
- Texaco Havoline to quit NASCAR
- Coors leaving Ganassi at end of season
- No more contracts for Ganassi crewmembers
- Report: Ganassi to make more job cuts

We’ll see how long this lasts. I’m guessing not very long, but you never know!
Juicy Fruit is already on JPM for 1/2 of the year and the other 1/2 is up in the air… Maybe Target for that half, but I think they’re still in it for the whole schedule, not just a partial deal, so I’m guessing they’re still looking for JPM. Not to mention JPM has won one race in the Cup series and has been more or less middle of the pack in points. IMHO, with good equipment, he would be more competitive. He’s just too talented not to.
There’s no driver for the #41 as of right now. I’m assuming that they’ll get someone with Cup experience in there or they’ll put Dario in there and they’ll have Target sponsoring that car full time.
So right now they have one driver and 1.5 sponsorships for two cars. Yeah, the future’s so bright they’ve gotta wear shades over there at CGR!
Great, more open wheel losers coming into the sport. they have already proven they cant compete against the best NASCAR has.
I’m glad Reed left that mess. Chip needs to go back to the IRL where he belongs. If he concentrated more on his teams and not women for hire he might just get some where.
Hey hey hey there is nothing wrong with associating with “women for hire”….. as long as they are good looking and clean…. l0l
Lets face it 20 years in NASCAR and Chip Douglas and Felix the cat have not done a darn thing but come to the track and lose. And I have seen the women he hangs around and they are high paid call girls. He must have got that from Robby G.
out of that 20 years he had maybe three good years but thats it. he won a couple races with kyle petty back in the day. he also almost won a championship wit sterlin marlin in 2002. jpm has done an incredible job these last two years in equipment that sucks. gannassi needs to do somthin or he needs to get out. i could care less about the high paid call girls. thats his business. but he cant let that be a distraction for his nascar team.
