TalladegaIf Talladega Superspeedway president Grant Lynch has his way, the 14 fans he banned from ever again having the opportunity to purchase a race ticket at his speedway won’t ever have the opportunity to buy a NASCAR race ticket again.

To any race.

At any track.

“I’m going to be notifying all my fellow track presidents across NASCAR of the people we’ve banned to see if they’ll also [participate in the ban],” Lynch said. “They’ll make their own decisions, but I expect great participation from the [International Speedway Corp.] tracks.”

Lynch said he will make personal calls to Richmond International Raceway president Doug Fritz, as well as Lowe’s Motor Speedway president Humpy Wheeler, since races at their tracks are coming up on the schedule.

Lynch also said he is looking into additional steps to ban those 14 individuals from Talladega track property completely.

“Certainly you can refuse to sell tickets to basically anyone you want to,” Lynch said. “The law I’m checking into [is] can we notify them they’re no longer allowed on track property, and what legal means can we take if they choose to be.”

Lynch said a team of attorneys is exploring that option now.

“If we catch these people, the ramifications need to be as serious as we can make them,” he said.

Wow, that’s intense. I hope those 15 are ready for the consequences of their actions… I also hope they can come up with some good disguises and be on their best behavior at races from now on. I’m glad Dega’s president is doing this. Sucks for those people getting banned, but there’s always scalpers and fake mustaches. Now, everyone should stop bitching about people chunking stuff on the track. They’ll get what they deserve. Nothing is going to be perfect but this is plenty good enough.

this is a good thing it will teach other to think about it before they do it.. i am happy to hear that this is beaing taken very seriously.. and make an example of these 14 people.. so things like this may (hope) never happen in the future!

but previous artical did say that they could not stop family or friends from buying the tickets for them.. so how would this work?

  3. 3 Sean

Anyone want to bet there is stuff thrown at the track this weekend again? I bet there is….

  4. 4 Lost

well i do remember reading some where (can’t remember where) that Dale JR said if your going to throw any thing throw toilet paper..

  5. 5 mike

It’s stupid cause they can not buy them. They admite they can not stop them from buying through a 3rd party. A buddy, scealper. They can’t stop them from going into the track. Over 100,000 people are at the events. It is to hard for them to stop those 14 who got cought, from coming back to the race next season or even in a few months when they are back at Dega.

But I did see 1 roll of TP on the track so 1 person listened to JR.

  6. 6 aracerdude

Great! We do not need those types of people at the race track.

  7. 7 William

Jeff deserved it. And the person who threw toilet paper shouldn’t be in trouble.

  8. 8 ian

are you kidding me if i was in charge id say give them fricken free tickets to ever race. i got to agree with the one person theres no way in hell your gunna be able to stop them and how the hell do they no it was those exact ppl

  9. 9 Chris

This won’t end, people will still throw things at the cars but its making us look like the idiots from their actions. People will say “hey look, theres another redneck throwing crap out on the track”

Oh well, i guess this is how its going to be.
    -Chris

  10. 10 moonfish

Oh please no one (especially Jeff) deserves that!
They need to grow the hell up! But to try and ban them from all the races..I would rather them stay and suffer when Gordon wins some more! HA…Jealousy gets ya know where….well but banned from a race…!

  11. 11 debrick

I think they should pull the season tickets of those 14 people. Even if they weren’t their tickets, if they bought them off of someone. Whose ever they were, they should be pulled off of the mailing list and then they can deal with it or their friends throwing things. Maybe people will think twice about who they sell or give their tickets to.

  12. 12 chickenhawk454

What about Robby Gordon? He got caught throwing stuff on the track they gonna ban him too?

  13. 13 Trevor

If it was my decision I would give free tickets to anyone caught throwing stuff at jeff. Or even better yet ban jeff from Dega and then call around and see if you can have him and the “Gay Pride Dupont Chevy” banned from every track! I can tell you one thing, there would be a lot of happy fans if they did that!

  14. 14 Alyssa

Trevor, you should thik before you speak. you sound like an idiot. Im not saying you are an idiot, i am saying that you sound like one. Seriously, if You want Jeff Gordon not to race just so that your precious driver can WIN, its not racing. you Gordon haters are ticked off because hes winning and is beating your driver. You want him banned? If your driver is the best, shouldnt he be able to compete with and beat the best? If you ban a driver from a race for winning it, how does that make your driver any better. this is ridiculous.

  15. 15 Bill

You want some heated disucssion, you should see what the site just posted!! :)

  16. 16 Lost

LMAO Bill I saw that and Staying Away From That One.. but i might read it for a good laugh!!! every once in a while…

  17. 17 roxie

ban em!!!! at least NASCAR will be sending the message that theyre not putting up with this anymore and maybe people will start to act their age and stop being childish and throwing fits when their driver doesnt win.

  18. 18 Trevor

Alyssa, in actual reality I am a highly educated guy who gets paid a shit load to sit in my office and troubleshoot electronic instrumentation on oil rigs over the phone. Secondly I fully thought about that before I said it. Lastly it don’t matter whether he wins or loses, all of us will stay hate him. I like many drivers and hate a select few. Maybe you should think before you speak because what I said had nothing to do with him winning and my driver not winning. No offense but your driver is probably the most hated driver in the sport so get use to people talking smack about him because it won’t stop anytime soon!

  19. 19 Axel Foley

There’s no reason to hate Gordon… He didn’t ask for the situation he’s been put in. It was given to him and he has done well with it… Why hate that?

With that said, Gordon is still a bitch. Up until the last couple of weeks atleast. He’s shown some glimmer of being a man lately. Don’t hate his skills, hate him as a person if you’re gonna hate. :)

Did anyone look closely at that roll of toilet paper that was laying on the track?! The one they showed on Fox atleast during the race… That was one of those industrial size ones, probably from Dega’s restrooms. Those things weigh around 10 pounds (I checked one out at work). The person who threw that was honestly looking to inflict some damage.

chickenhawk454 brings up a good point. The drivers are the professionals here and they know the consequences of throwing things on the track much more than us… Robby Gordon threw something out that affected the outcome of a race. Why shouldn’t he be banned?

These people are getting what they deserve… They knew better. Let them buy tickets through third parties and sneak in… I bet they’ll never throw anything again.

  20. 20 strech

i think its funny that trevor and alyssa r arguing about this shit. for one alyssa if u want real racing, then tell nascar to get their head out of hendricks ass. yea people are gonna still throw stuff when gordon wins but it will decrease the amount of shit thrown out there to begin with. nascars not about racing anymore, its about who nascar decides to suck up to. 95% of the debris cautions reveal no debris at all and the questionable cautions always somhow benefit a hendrick driver. and if u want to ban somone from talladega it should be jimmie johnson cuz he causes all the wrecks down there and people are gettin tired of it. and to add to it gordon cant be but so gay cuz he did get a supermodel pregnant. not sayin i root for him or nothin jus to clear that part up.

  21. 21 alanna

I would of proudly threw my beer at jeff i’m sooo sick of seein wonderboy win.Its such a conspiracy act
I applaud those 14 people cause if i would of been there i would of proudly threw Beer,Toilet paper,or
even a Jeff Gordon fan on the track lol and i would of been proud to be arrested.I will Praise the day
when Jeff Gordon retires it cant be soon enough and again those 14 people are my Heros.

  22. 22 alanna

William,Ian,and Trevor u guys rock i totally agree with u and alyssa u must be a jeff Gordon fan
get over urself because not all of us Jr fans are the streotype rednecks even thoug i am proud to from the
south Jeff Gordon Sucks!!!!! and i hate every race he wins. All the Jeff Gordon fans are jealous of Jr and
his fans because those are the loyal ones.and one more point Jeff Gordon said he has alot of fans too
but i didnt see 160,000 ppl come to their feet when he took the lead.they did for jr

Ingrid’s pregnant is because jimmie johnson hurt his wrist and hewas out of comission so jeff had
    to expirament with her

  24. 24 moonfish

Im a Gordon fan and I am not jealous of Jr.
I think he has alot of pressure and that is why them 160,000 people sat right back down when he lost the lead…and therefore another race.
You Gordon haters talk alot about jealousy I wonder why that is? Hmmmm I think I already know…*smile

  25. 25 Julia, From Arizona

This is so stupid!!! People have been throwing things onto the track for years, in hopeing to peg the driver they hate most. So when fans tried to hit Gordons car it was out of tradition. And doesn’t this Dega president realize that if it wasn’t for the Fans, then they wouldn’t have their track? Man…get over it already, cause this Will continue as long as NASCAR is around.

  26. 26 aracerdude

Why do they not throw things on the track in other forms of racing?

It is NOT that the fans are any less passionite about racing, must be something else.

  27. 27 mare

those of you who think that it’s ok to
jeopardise the life of another human being
by throwing beer, 10lb rolls of t.p. or anything
else on the track should have the same done to you
on the freeway during rush hour traffic!

y’all just don’t value human life do ya?
I’m no Gordon fan, but I surely don’t wanna
    see him killed!!

  28. 28 mare

it’s hard to say that banning these 14 for life
from any NASCAR event will work. Are they going to
start ID’ing people at the gates now??

If they can’t buy theirown ticket they’ll have
their next door neighbor buy it for them, a
friend at work or perhaps even their 90 year old
grandma!! Unless you ask for legal ID at the gates
these people will be back just for the sake of
    going back after being banned!

I’m all for the idea of banning them, I just don’t see
    HOW it’s physically possilbe!

Love or hate the driver who has full cans of beer or
ANYTHING thrown at them during races
    —-you’re endangering lives!!!

ANYTHING can happen on a racetrack…the life of
YOUR FAVORITE DRIVER IS AT RISK TOO!
all he has to do is be close enough to that car
that gets beer bombed and he can go home to race with
    Dale Sr too!

THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK—THESE ARE HUMAN BEINGS
Like them or not………they have families and
friends and they’re not finished in this world til
    GOD takes them home!

  29. 29 mare

Chickenhawk454…you do have an excellent point by the way!!
I’d like to see/can’t wait to see what NASCAR does to Wobby Gordon!

racing is already a dangerous sport…
our competition shouldn’t look as tacky and
ignorant as those 14 imbiciles who have no
    regard for human life!

  30. 30 mare

…there are a few of you here who should be ashamed of yourselves too!
