A man accused of killing a member of a local NASCAR team told Eyewitness News he didn’t do it.
“I don’t know the man. I wasn’t involved in it. I didn’t shoot him; I didn’t know Jimmy Sprinkle. I never met him in my life, never have,” said suspect Jim Flowers.
Alexander County sheriff’s deputies have charged Flowers, 51, in the shooting death of Jimmy Sprinkle, a mechanic for the Red Bull racing team.
Sprinkle was slain in his driveway Saturday night.
Investigators say the two men did not know each other but got into an altercation after Flowers showed up at Sprinkle’s house.
Deputies are not releasing a motive in the case.
