Stewart wins feature in ‘Prelude to the Dream’

Tony Stewart won his own charity dirt-track race Wednesday, leading nearly the entire way. Robby Gordon was second in the Old Spice Prelude to the Dream, followed by Clint Bowyer.
Stewart grabbed the lead from Kevin Harvick on the first lap at Eldora Speedway and led the rest of the way in the 30-lap race.
Gordon moved into second by the 20th lap, but couldn’t close.
After the victory, Stewart raised his arms to the cheers of the crowd and then climbed to the top on the chain-link fence that separated the fans from the track.
“This is a new car, a little different design than what we’ve had in the past,” Stewart said. “This thing was just easy to drive. It didn’t take skill on my part. The car was just that good. It made it easy.”
Stewart applauded Gordon’s effort.
“I told him for years I thought he would be great in a dirt car,” Stewart said. “I think he’s one of the most naturally talented drivers that races every week in the Sprint Cup series. I’m proud of it (Gordon’s performance) because it makes me look like a genius.”
Coming so close to winning the race last year is one thing that brought Kyle Busch back for another try.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup points leader finished second in the 2007 Prelude to the Dream, edged out by winner Carl Edwards — by 0.3 seconds — and finishing just ahead of Jeff Gordon.
He was among the 25 drivers who competed in the contest Wednesday evening.
“We’re back for more,” Busch said. “Finishing second and being so close — that was obviously the first thing, to try to come back and win. Not only that but just the fun.”
Busch ended up finishing 10th.

Robby Gordon that is….. l0l
Jeffery finished 13th, and Jr didn’t even make the race (sorry couldn’t help it l0l, BTW anybody know why he has yet to show up for one of these Charity events? You would think his sponsors would almost force him to do it just for the good PR)
It was freakin great there! Minus J.J. Yeley wrecking or spinning every 5 seconds. What is funny is there was a Dale Jr. and Jr. Motorsports merch hauler! I did buy a Landon Cassil t-shirt and the guy was really nice. I asked why Jr. wasn’t there and his stuff was. He told me he couldn’t give me the proper answer. Don’t know what that means. I would assume he isn’t allowed to drive anything other than the Nascar Nationwide and Cup due to the little incident from a few years ago when he decided to become a flaming ball of Dale Jr, but I could be way off. It was a blast, fans were cool except for one. I wore a Casey Mears T-shirt (I’m still in the process of unpacking from college so my Carl Edwards tee was not available) one guy came up to me and said Mears isn’t here..(The man was wearing an 8 Bud T-shirt)…I said neither is Jr. and he called me a few choice names when I was only stating the obvious that he had previously stated to me as well! Oh well!! I should have directed him to the 88 stuff that was 3 feet from us! LOL stupid people!
Robby Gordon and Jimmie Johnson did great for their first ever time in a dirt late model.
Obviously, Robby had the best equipment out there bar none. All of Bloomquist’s cars are top of the line. He raced up here at our track 2 months ago.
Jimmie raced his way from close to the back up to 7th or 8th. He was running very well there at the end. I believe he would have had a 4th or 5th place finish had it been a 50 lap race.
Last year’s race was a little better racing-wise. But this one was awesome as well. I shall order it again next year.
KS beat the shrub!
KW beat the shrub!
GO SMOKE! I didn’t watch the race this year because we weren’t home, but kind of regret it now!
41Reed5Casey might be on to something w/ Jr… It might be that after he got roasted in that ‘Vette he either doesn’t want to do any extra races or isn’t allowed to by his contract with HMS.
Either way it’s pretty crappy that his trailer was there peddling his junk and making money, but he couldn’t make an appearance, even if not to race!
alright nhra guys at least you did not come in last place !!!:)

Jimmie Johnson and Robby Gordon beat the shrub… and they’ve never been in a dirt late model in their lives.
I’m going to the truck races at TMS Friday night. I wonder if the 88 will have a hauler there.. that’s just weird and a little…well, I think i lacks class.
UNLESS all proceeds went to Victory Junction. That would be a different story.
I almost forgot what the article was about….
Congrats Tony!!!!!
I doubt the Merch proceeds went to VJGC, The Prelude branded Merch probaly did, but I doubt the regular Driver Merch did.
A non NASCAR race and Robby still got screwed! I’m kidding. Robby looked good for his first stock car race on dirt.
