Tony StewartTony Stewart was dominant Monday in winning his second straight NASCAR Nationwide Series race, holding off hard-charging Kyle Busch again.

Stewart beat Busch, his teammate in the Sprint Cup series, in a 1-2 Toyota sweep in the Nationwide season-opener at Daytona. He made it look a lot easier in the rain-postponed race at Auto Club Speedway as he led 136 of the 150 laps on the 2-mile track formerly known as California Speedway.

It is the fourth victory for two-time Cup champion Stewart in what was previously known as the Busch Series, but his first win at any track besides Daytona International Speedway.

godi wish the cup drivers would stay in cup and let some of these young drivers have thier time in the nationwide series. I wish NASCAR would do something about this, if your going to run in a series it should be every race, you shouldnt be able to pick or choose. and this goes to all cup drivers so nobody can say im being a hater.

A good win for Tony, BUT I agree that picking and choosing races is not good for the nationwide regular drivers. It’s a catch 22 situation, If the Cup drivers are told to stay out fans will not show up to the races near as much just like before. On the other hand if they continue to race unabated in this series many of the new upcoming teams will drop out for lack of sponsors, prize $$, recognition for the wins that they can’t get etc…
Yes,Yes I know the other side of the argument that the newbies are getting an education with the Cup drivers in the front and that is true as well, BUT is the way the series has been let to evolve into the best for the new up and coming drivers ???

Wow…nine of the top ten are cup drivers…

I believe, now, this is my point of view, that young drivers should have to compete with Cup drivers. Put it this way; if a young driver can beat a Cup driver, they are good. I think the Nationwide Series has become a bit of a learning series..these young drivers want to get into Cup? Fine, but they have to step up and beat the Cup drivers week after week. They should prove themselves by racing with the Cup drivers in a series where Cup AND younger drivers can race together. I don’t see it as a series where it’s strictly young upcoming drivers; who would they be able to compare themselves to, other drivers with the same or less talent they have? The Cup drivers mix it up a bit and make it challenging.

Like I said; they have to prove they are Cup-worthy drivers by racing side by side with the Cup drivers, and the Nationwide series is the place to do that.

yea… the only problem with this scenario though is that the cup guys have more funding and experience for their lower series cars… it stops the guys who just want to get into a series like this from being able to do just that.

i say the cup drivers should just be able to run a max of like 5 races a year, and not be competitive in points… that would let them still run, get people in the gates, and still let non-cup guys a chance to make a name for themselves

Aside from what the previous post stated, Cup guys are taking
up the Qualifying positions. Obviously, they’re going to make
the show before any up and coming drivers.

I used to watch the busch races to see the new and upcoming drivers develop..Now it’s just totally infiltrated with cup drivers. It’s like we watch two cup races every weekend now.

as the term used to be a “buschwhacker” let the young guns have a chance since the nationwide series is the little league of nascar.
