Tony StewartTony Stewart said Friday he has spoken with fellow driver Kevin Harvick and the two have ironed out any hard feelings that resulted from the finish of the July 29 Allstate 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Stewart made contact with Harvick as the two battled for the lead late in the race, and damage done to Harvick’s Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet dropped the former Brickyard winner to seventh while Stewart collected the win.

After brief contact on the cool-down lap, Harvick blasted Stewart, saying the Joe Gibbs Racing driver “is always the first to whine about people giving him enough room [on the race track],” Harvick said. On Thursday, while in Montreal preparing for Saturday’s Busch Series race, Harvick said Stewart had phoned him, but Harvick hadn’t spoken to him. Stewart said he finally spoke with Harvick Thursday night.

“And I know what he was disappointed about,” Stewart said. “He should have run second, he had the second-best car for sure. Kevin and I are good friends. … I would have been upset, too, if the roles had been reversed. I can’t blame him for that.” As he had after the Brickyard victory, Stewart shouldered the blame for the contact.

“I made a mistake. I let the car get too high,” Stewart said. “I’ve heard some differences of opinion from people who watched the [video] tape, but I still take responsibility for it. I would never race Kevin like that on purpose. I don’t race anybody like that on purpose. I’m big about racing people clean and having them race me clean. But when I make a mistake, I fess up to it.”

If a person drinks everytime he is around alcohol, he is an alcoholic no matter if he doesn’t do it one time or not. Just like Tony Stewart is still a whiner. If it had been anyone but Harvick or possibly Jr., he would have a whole different story to tell. Harvick is one of his paychecks and Jr is too popular to dis. If it had been a younger guy, we would have heard, “blah blah blah give and take, blah blah blah, if Dale were here he wouldn’t put up with it, blah blah blah blah if I weren’t a talented race car driver the only thing this whining would get me is more cheese, blah blah blah blah… I’m not a hater as much as I am a realist… I am not just picking on him, I would be saying this about any driver named Tony Stewart. : )

“I don’t race anybody like that on purpose. I’m big about racing people clean and having them race me clean.” Yeah Right!!! TS will wreck you anytime he can’t get by you. Just look at the past and be real, he has wrecked many, many, other drivers every time he can’t get by them. He IS NOT a “GREAT” driver at all. He is a master wrecker, winer, not a “winner”

He is still the biggest CHODE in Nascar!!!!

  8. 8 Hunkerdown

I can’t wait til Stewart runs into a bigger track bully and slams him around on and off the track and calls the shots like when contraversy is over….shouldn’t Harvick be the one calling that instead of the #20?

Red Devil: Truth is not whining, it is truth, Why do you think he is so disliked by most fans (and drivers) BTW? He wouldn’t know what good clean racing looks like even if he was forced to watch hours of film of guys like the 31, 17, 48, 8, 43, etc.. racing, ’cause he and folks like you live in a fantasy world. Last week at Indy He said this one is for all my fans that have to put up with all the BS all the time. It is not BS at all, it is good honest race fans disliking a stupid driver (I use the term driver loosely) for what he trufully is, a whiner, who if he can’t beat you fair will wreck you. It is that simple. Race fans know what goes on, and they will let jerks like TS know about it. If that is what TS calls BS and a very few idiots like yourself think he is right, then TS and “fans” like you and StewartFan will continue to hear about it from the rest of the NASCAR fans. StewartFan says his guy stood up and admitted he was wrong, Yeah right. Gee I wonder what the #33 Bush car has to do with that “responsible act”. He never “stood up and diid the right thing” before. Even when he wrecked his own team mate on nationial tv for everyone with eyes and a working brain to see. Give me a break, TS is not now, nor ever will be a “stand up guy”. Sorry to offend, but sometimes the truth hurts, but it will be told. Funny thing about the truth, it always finds a way of coming out.

    truth is………..
he said after sunday’s race that brickyard is
    HIS race

……….sounds more like the sound of sucking up to me!

I’m not a Stewart fan by any means, but he’s not near as bad as he was 3 or 4 years ago. You can point the finger at ANY driver who has spun people, wrecked people, or, I don’t know, made a mistake. 4 years ago Stewart would have said “that’s racing”. At least he took blame. That in itself is improvement. Credit where credit is due.

  12. 12 Pitbull

I have given credit where credit is due. He deserves all the credit for bring a jerk I can give him. He is not a stand up guy. Like I said if it was not for the #33 Bush car he would not be “standing up” at all. No matter what he says at any moment his true colors shine when he is frustrated ’cause he dosen’t have the tallent to pass someone. Look at last year Daytona. He whined because of bump drafting and says NASCAR needs to do something about it before someone gets killed, then goes out and punts Matt Kennseth. He has done the same things all along weather it be 3, 4 years ago or now. Give him the credit he deserves and that is, a big jerk, not the best “driver” in NASCAR.
