Tony StewartTony Stewart went from running inside the top 10 to nearly running into the wall. And he wasn’t shy about blaming Kurt Busch for the wreck that cost them both a shot at catching winner Martin Truex Jr.

“There are only a couple bad apples out there, and he’s one of them,” Stewart said.

Stewart and Busch were both running in the top 10 in Monday’s race at Dover International Speedway when Busch clipped Stewart as he went to make a pass in lap 271. Busch went into the wall, took out Stewart, and both saw their chances at a victory evaporate. Stewart also was angry one his crewman was nearly hit by Busch on pit road. NASCAR parked Busch and he finished 42nd. Stewart returned from an extended stay in the garage to finish 40th. Good thing Busch won’t be able to make it to Stewart’s charity dirt race on Wednesday night.

“When you’ve got guys that you let them go every time they get to you, and they don’t do the same thing when the roles are reversed, you finally get tired of it,” Stewart said. “You finally learn to race those guys the way they race you. It’s Busch and a few others who do that.”

Stewart said Busch had the unfortunate habit of racing Stewart on every lap “like it pays a million dollars.” Stewart didn’t pay too much in the points standings and is seventh, 486 points behind leader Jeff Gordon.

On Wednesday night, Stewart is promoting a half-mile dirt track race at Eldora Speedway, which he owns. The drivers will run the 30-lap race in dirt late-model stock cars. Busch had previously been unable to accept an invitation because of a scheduling conflict. If they want to settle their differences, the drivers will have to do it in the garage. Stewart said there will be no payback this weekend at Pocono Raceway once the green flag drops.

“I’ve never tried to wreck him, and I’ve had plenty of chances to try to wreck the guy. That’s not what it was about,” he said. “It’s about racing people with respect, and he hasn’t done that with anybody for a year.”

Way to go Smoke!! He forgot where he came from. Busch has been driving over his head for some time…Has never shown respect to fellow drivers and needs to be dumped a few more times…….

  2. 2 Barry

Looks like Kurt has done forgot about his lesson he was taught by Jimmy Spencer. He need another knuckle sandwich

Just when you thought that Penske was turning Kurt the Squirt into a decent guy, he pulls this shit. What is it? The second or third time this year they got together? Then Kurt the Skirt slides up next to Tony in the pits jeopardizing the safety of innocent pit crew members as well as Tony and himself. Maybe they pinned his floppy ears back a little to tight and it screwed up the circulation to his brain? Who knows? I hope NASCAR fines this asshole 200 points and $200,000. Then maybe the jerk would use that thing he calls a brain before he gets stupid behind the wheel. Forrest said” Stupid is as stupid does”. Foxworthy says “You can fix ugly but you can’t fix stupid.” I agree with both of these guys!

Regardless of who’s fault it was on the track, that crap ‘Busch-league’ pulled in the pits deserves a big suspension. No way should someone be allowed tp put crew members at risk like that, they face enough risk just doing their J-O-B.

  5. 5 Breanna.

I agree;; no matter what happened on the track, Tony had every right
to rip him up one side and down the other. You NEVER pull stuff on
pit road, it’s dangerous and just plain stupid. Penske needs to plant
his boot in Kurt’s a__ and set him straight on what intelligence is
once and for all. And if he still doesn’t get it, tell him he can find
    another ride.

You are all wrong….Kurt Busch admits when he made a mistake and his anger got the best of him……how many times has tony been to anger management….doesnt he need to go again???…kurt just expected a little give just like tony expects give every time he’s in that situation

  7. 7 Breanna.

Busch banged into him while trying to go by and then endangered
several crewmen with his antics on pit road. So you can call it “his
anger getting the better of him”, but if you can’t control your anger
beyond endangering innocent people’s safety, you shouldn’t be behind
the wheel of a large vehicle. Period.

I’m sorry sir, but you’re the one who’s mistaken.

  8. 8 KK

He should have to sit out a race. That was a stupid thing to do on pit road. I don’t care who did what to who on the track that is where is should stay. Penske should do something too, but I will be surprised if he does.

  9. 9 Chad Stevens

he already just sat out a race….and i hardly believe that he would have actually hit the guy…bucsh knew the crewman saw him and if he didnt think he did he would have moved……kurt is way better than his brother and tony

What the hell haver YOU been smoking?

Hasve you even seem the still photo of the crewman still in the air and over the hood of the #20 with Busach tight alongside Stewart?

If not your ill informed how close Busch got to the crewman, if you have you’re delusional.

Busch’s tansgressions all long and not pretty, both Busch and the #2 need to sit out a week.

  11. 11 KK

He sat out for the rest of Dover, big deal he still needs another race to sit and think, although I don’t think he is capable of thinking.

  12. 12 aracerdude

Nascar needs to park him for a few races just to say, “not in our house Kurt”. I think he needs to sit out 2-4 races for his pit road rage. It’s about the safety of the pit crews.

  13. 13 Andrew

Well, I guess all you can say to Tony is what goes around comes around.

  14. 14 Paul

I find it interesting that NASCAR will suspend a crew chief for just about anything, however nothing is done when this happens.

Double standards all the way around.

  15. 15 Axel Foley

Some of you people who have the knee jerk reaction to instantly call anything Tony says bullshit or that he gets what he deserves really need to have your head examined.

Also, Kurt has as big of an anger problem as Tony, if not more. Kurt has ability but he is a total jack ass. His ability is not as great as Tony’s.

Kurt does alot of things that he knows he shouldn’t. If there is anyone in racing you can call “pompous” it is Kurt Busch. He thinks the world owes him something (everything). He displays that trait over and over again. Tony has his own issues but Tony is more of a man on the race track (and probably off) than Busch will ever be.

  16. 16 amanda

Like I said in another post..causing crap out on the track is one thing, but endangering a pit crew member on pit road is just plain stupid. Kurt should be suspended for the rest of the season. What would have happened if Tony’s guy wasn’t looking and Kurt hit him? Like I said.. Kurt needs to be taught a lesson. Props to Tony for staying in his car, not talking to the media right after it happened, and not causing a big mess. He controlled his anger.

  17. 17 KyleZ06

A crew chief fined $100,000, driver of the car docked 100 points..
for the wrong mounts for the wing on the COT.
I wonder what penalty is for endangering a innocent crew member.

If Kurt’s penalty doesn’t surpass that, then NASCAR will remove
all my doubts that they have no credibility.

  18. 18 Axel Foley

Good point, Kyle. NASCAR always says its about “safety” and “the fans”… We know they don’t care about us fans. If there is no disciplinary action for this situation then that would throw their claims of concern for safety out the window also. Which I wouldn’t mind because then they wouldn’t be able to hide behind safety as the reasons for restrictor plates, the COT and no racing back to the cautions. …”no credibility.”

  19. 19 J

I think this is a TWO way deal here….I’m a Tony fan but to be quite honest…they are both at fault ! They were on each others butts all during the race ! No,Kurt had no business endangering the pit crew like he did ! I think they are both hot heads….its like putting two bees in a jar with the lid closed !

  20. 20 mare

Tony sure has had his “difficulties” with “guys pushing him into the wall”
    this season now hasn’t he?

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…it’s NEVER Tony’s fault!!

    does anyone hear…

    wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh???

better look out, he may tell his mommy on you!!

  21. 21 Breanna.

Mare-Seriously, if you have nothing intelligent to say, why bother?
It’s not a matter of whining, it’s a matter of Kurt Busch almost
    running into-or over-his crewman.

Anyone who would say he doesn’t have a right to speak out on that is
about as stupid as, well, Kurt Busch.

  22. 22 marc

    Andrew:

“Well, I guess all you can say to Tony is what goes around comes around.”

When was the last time Stewart placed a pitcrew-man in danger while venting his anger on pitroad Andrew?

“mare” I second what Breanna said. If all you have to add is whining about alleged whining maybe you should save it for your own enjoyment.

  23. 23 Cadillac

Do you realy live in this world?

  24. 24 RedDevil

HAHAHA made me laugh actually.. Kurt tries to act tuff but always bes an idiot doing so.. He is suspended for 1 race at the moment but should be suspended for more than 1 i believe.

  25. 25 Oscar

I think Kyle up there, said it best :D hahaha
