Stewart not happy with pit road incident with Menard
Quote selected text Published October 15th, 2007 in NASCAR News
Even though Tony Stewart said the his fender-banging incident with Paul Menard didn’t really do any damage to his Home Depot Chevy during pit stops in Sunday’s Lowe’s Nextel Cup race he still seemed to place the blame squarely on the DEI driver and said Menard should have given way to a Chase driver.
“The No. 15 car was a minor thing. I think everybody got to hollering on the radio and we never even saw the No. 9 car. That is what did the damage. The No. 15 just scraped the paint off. It didn’t really do anything else. But with us rolling out, it would have been real easy for him to give us the go ahead, not that he has to, but it is about give-and-take. If you have respect for people and they are racing for something you are not, you kind of usually do that. If you don’t, the roles will usually be reversed.”

Before anyone blasts Stewart for the “he should of moved over for a Chase driver” bit, keep in mind how often Gordon and, I believe, Johnson as well, have said the same thing in relation to actual on-track racing.
Oh he’ll be blasted…Return of the whiner. Coulda woulda shoulda, Like in all that comotion the only thing Menard had to watch was exactly when Tony was going to move so he could gracefully bow out of the way? It is alot easier to slow a stopped car than one at 55 mph. It’s just another one of those things that happens that shoulda never been whined about!
boooooooooooo hoooooooooo……….give him some cheese with that wine!!!!!!!
This article doesn’t say the half of it. They were complaining about Menard’s crew cheering when tony came in to repair his car. the full article, interview with Zippy, is on NASCAR.com.
I’m sure Nascar will make a true rule up because of baby Stewie, just look what happen last year when he did not make the chase.
They made it so a lot of the idiot Jr. fans can have someone to root for in the chase and Jr still couldn’t make it in with the addition of 2 people.
I didn’t hear Jr. complaining just cry baby Stewie about this, that & everything. Another thing is that Dale Jr. is not on a good team unlike next year which I Predict that Jr. will win the Daytona 500 & will be next years Sprint Cup Champion.
Go Jimmie & Team Hendricks
Charles, wats the need to bring Dale Jr in on this, if i believe so, the article has to do with Tony Stewart and Paul Menard, NOT DALE JR…it are people like you who make racing ridiculaous, always trying to find a way to blame Jr or even Gordon, Johnson….anyway back to the article, this isn’t the first time Stewart and Menard have ran into each other this year, i like both drivers, but i would have to rule that Stewart is at fault in this one.
Well said AmpMD88.
Can’t blame Stewart for being pissed. The owner’s keep bringing in these driver’s who have no reason for being in Cup. Menard has done nothing to prove himself as a racer. The only reason he can even run with the big boys is because his rich papa has funded him since day one. DEI picked him up because he came with his dad’s company as a high dollar sponsor. Doesn’t hurt that his old man, John, has been romantically linked to Teresa Earnhardt.
This is where the NASCAR feeder system fails Cup. Drivers like Menards should spend more time running trucks and Busch cars to gain experience and skill before taking the main stage.
Before you all start blasting Tony, it wasn’t TONY who was quoted saying these things, it was Zippy. Besides, this isn’t the first time Menard has caused trouble.
VERY well said Luke.
I think I hear the sound of a baby again.
stewarts really got fat. he definatly is looking like the rosie odonnell of nascar
stewart whines about everything he can find to whine about.
Paul Menard has no business being in Cup. Its an expensive hobby for him and its not the 1st time he has been in way over his head.
How is this either drivers fault really? You cant see anything out of those cars with all the safety things. Thats the spotters job to tell them if its clear or not.
Why are people bashing Stewart? It was Zippy that said that and he was right about Menard being in the way again.
and stewarts championship chances are already up in smoke this yr
booooooooooooooooooo hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
you want me to play the vilion for you Tony LOL
“but it is about give-and-take”, well its kind of funny he said that. He never gives thats why people to give to him. Its racing, no matter who is in Tony’s position or in the chase its a race and in a race you race for a win, the championship is just an overall deal. I think drivers are to worried about the championship than the race at hand. A real racer would never give tony the room.
there he goes complaining about give and take again, when’s the last time that hypocrit practiced what he preaches??? anyone remember a little incident between him and kurt busch earlier in the year? where was the give and take on that one?? quit your whining Tony!!
oh wah wah wah. such a baby!!!!!
Who gives a “SHIPT”?
It was one of those deals that happened, and it was really nobodys fault. Shut-up, move-on, and RACE!
People say Brian France is killing NASCAR. NO The drivers are killing NASCAR by crying to much about little things like this.
I guess during the chase we need to pit the “chase cars first, than the other lead lap cars than the cars not on the lead lap. NOT!!!!! Get a better spotter and go racing!
Much like its been said Paul Menard does NOT belong in Nextel Cup. Also Stewart was pulling out and Menard was behind him then ran into him. Lets look at it realistically if it was you driving down the street and the guy behind you ran into your car HE would be at fault. Some of you people are bigger whiners then anyone get off your soap box.
Very well said Mike B. !!!!!!!!
Fans are bigger whinners than the drivers they accuse !!!!!
Sorry Mike…I forgot to change users !!!
who said that tony is looking like me? thats an A** chewing coming for them!!
Does anyone here pay attention?? TONY DIDN’T SAY ANYTHING!!!!! It was his crew chief!
Oh boy here we go again….same whine, just a new verse!
Tony-a… all these ’stewart bashers’ have no life, lol..they can’t read, and most of them can’t use proper grammar! Tony DID NOT say that. Zippy did. Why don’t you guys ‘whine’ over Zippy’s words instead of instantly jumping on Tony’s back because the ARTICLE says he said those words?
Bunch of hypocrites, if you ask me.
This incident is squarely on Zippy and Tony’s spotter’s shoulders, The cars coming on to pit road have the right of way, there at pit road speed and have cars on there rear bumper if they hit the breaks to let cars that are done come out they will get hit from behind and could get spun out and could cause a even bigger problem. The cars that are exiting there stall are suppose to wait for a opening before they leave there stall. The driver can not see when it is clear to leave and waits for the signal ( Rather it is the jack dropping or the spotter or crew chief saying to go ) I’m no fan of Paul Menard but he didn’t do anything wrong. Look at it this way, If your driving down the highway at 60 mph and I pull onto the road from the shoulder and hit you who’s fault is it?
Tony, you save big money at Menards!
if somebody didn’t make a mistake what would we have to talk about? if someone didn’t whine and complain, what would we talk about? if they just went round and round and noone did anything controversial what would we talk about? think about it!
