Tony StewartTwo-time Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart was fined $10,000 and his team was placed on probation Monday following an altercation last week at the U.S. Auto Club’s National Midget race in Indianapolis.

Stewart was fined for unsportsmanlike conduct and conduct detrimental to racing.

USAC said in a statement that Stewart was involved in an on-track incident Thursday at O’Reilly Raceway Park related to one of his Midgets driven by points leader Tracy Hines. Hines had scraped the wall and pitted for a tire change, but his car was not deemed ready to re-enter the race in time to rejoin the field for the restart.

Stewart then came down to pit lane to get an explanation for the call. He reportedly knocked the headset from the official’s head and then shoved him.

He should have been fined a lot more for his little boy actions, that 10,000 dollars does not mean anything to him. He is always on his best behavior when he is at a sanctioned event because of Joe and his sponsors but when he is out of the spot light he goes back to his old ways. I guess that is why he cant keep a girlfriend either, no one can put up with him. Wait till he becomes a owner and he does that hell be the only owner in history to be put on probation.

Tony made a public Apology today and said if he had to do it all over again he wouldnt have done what he did and said when he looked at the tape he was sorry for making a scene. He is also buying all new radios and headsets as part of his punishment.

I was about 100 feet from that and he was a jerk, stomping around like a little boy whos mom didnt give him a lollipop. and then after it happened he just stood there like nothing happened. if I was USAC I would have fined him alot more. I feel sorry for his future wife but he will be single forever because no girl can stand him.

Actually I love Tony and he can call me any day he wants!
He’s someone who’s passionate about racing, whether he’s driving or owning and there’s nothing wrong with that.

    Dear “Me”

you sound like a woman who has been abused since childhood…I pity your intellect!!

he’s still pushing and shoving like a hot head, that attitude on the track will kill someone yet–but tony will just apologise and pay for the funeral!

Remember the lady reporter in 2000 or 2001?? I have no doubts that his temper will enable him a woman beater….

he’s an awesome driver but i have no respect for the man!

There’s no reason to pity MY intellect. First of all you have no idea who I am to be judging me. No one on here can tell me they’ve never been in a fight or got pissed off at someone, whether you think it’s right or wrong.
It’s sad that you only see a very small part of his life and yet you have him pegged as a woman beater and you have no respect for the man…
So how old were you when you first started walking on water? Sorry, I didn’t realize you were perfect…

Remember the days of Jack Hewitt? USAC has always been the target of criticism, but now has the model of NASCAR to hide under.

This driver is in this sport to race, not kiss up to a headset man. I think Tony may need to rethink his plans but all in all, he does what most only hope to think about.

  15. 15 bubbagump

Like him or dislike him, Tony is a racer and in it to win. While this drive to win is an admirable trait, his inability to accept defeat like an adult is inexcusible. He once used the excuse (which is just that, an EXCUSE) that the media people converge on the drivers too soon after the race without giving them time to cool off. What’s his excuse now? There’s no doubt that he’s one of the best in his business, but so was Mike Tyson. I don’t need his antics either. NO I’m not likening Tony to Tyson, but the point is the sport can survive without him whether he believes that or not. Other than his tirades I think he is good for the sport, but I’m not too sure the good outweighs the bad.

Funny I almost thought you were all talking about Kyle…. Funny how fast the other shoe drops!!!

  17. 17 bubbagump

I can’t say much about dropping shoes. I’ve still got both of mine on my feet. Kyle may pout and sulk, but he has yet to throw the kind of tantrums Tony does. Hopefully he won’t. I think the biggest similarity with the two of them is that there isn’t much of a gray area when it comes to popularity. Most people either like them or they don’t (I hesitate to use ‘love’ or ‘hate’ as those are strong words thrown about much too easily). Like him or not, Kyle has sure been fun to watch! He’s helped put a little more racing back in the sport, which has become pretty ho-hum as of late. As a HMS fan I was never very keen on Kyle, but you have to give credit where credit is due. His pass of JJ a few weeks back was awesome! You have to wonder what he’s gonna do next!

May your kid act just like Tony. Not when he grows up, but right now. How long would you put up with that? On second thought, at least Tony can spell!
