Stewart fined 25 G’s, docked 25 points by NASCAR for foul language

NASCAR announced that Tony Stewart has been fined $25,000 and penalized 25 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver championship points, as a result of using inappropriate language during a post-race televised interview following his victory Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Stewart, driver of the #20 Home Dept Chevrolet, retains his fifth-place standing in the series points, with his total points reduced to 2,599. Stewart violated Section 12-4-A of the series rule book (actions detrimental to stock car racing) by using the inappropriate language. In addition, Stewart’s car owner, Joe Gibbs, has been penalized 25 car owner championship points because of the infraction.
[NASCAR]
- Stewart’s cuss word could cost him
- Stewart likely to be let off hook, Montoya under review
- Bill Davis Racing fined, docked 50 truck points for unlicensed driver
- Stewart fined for altercation and team given probation
- Busch Fined $50,000 for Coca-Cola 600 Incident

Speechless, NASCAR has officially lost it, $25,000 and 25 driver/owner points for says Bull S*** on cable namely ESPN during his post-race interview, please.
What ever happened to TNT/Kyle Petty getting fined/docked for saying “What the f*** was that!
Not acceptable, not acceptable at all, wrong call again NASCAR. See Yeah!
Seems fair. Its the same fine Jr and a few Busch guys have gotten so at least they are consistant. They were done during interviews when you know you are on TV or radio.
Racedriven - Kyle Petty wasnt fined because he wasn’t standing there doing an interview when he said it. He was driving a car and someone plowed into him. For all he knew he was saying it to his crew. Its TNT’s fault for leaving his mic open and again for not using a tape delay. My guess is when you are driving home from work slow down for a corner and someone behind you doesnt and hits you that you will say the same thing he did.
I am glad Nascar was consistant. I do think it’s stupid for any of them to be fined for this but since they have others it’s a good thing they did for Tony to.
Actually, Eric I missed it live, but from what I understand, Kyle’s F-bomb was a taped replay of his in-car cam when the wreck happened and TNT was too stupid to kill it when they played the tape.
Good that NASCAR was consistent for once, though. Maybe this will lead to a new era of consistent fines and punishments! (yeah right… wishful thinking, I know…)
no reason to fine this ____, like it matters anyway with the Chase. Kids can see worse on
Cartoon Network now than a NASCAR driver saying _______
Well, at least Nascar is consistent with their fining of cuss words but little Kurt Busch can almost kill someone on pit road and have a very minor fine!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just don’t understand Nascar anymore!!!
Yes, Kyle wasn’t penalized because it was TNT’s fault not his for
re-airing the comment.
And this doesn’t really matter, it’s pocket change for Stewart and he is
in no danger of losing his spots in the chase.
Good job Nascar, at least be consistent. :]
wow 25 points whew… and $25,000 pocket change.. no wonder stewart wasn’t worried about swearing
Well I know he would get into some ____ for sayin that But Nascar’s rules can kiss MY A__!!
RedDevil needs to be anned for a couple of days for using foul language. Maybe that will get her attention.
As for the fine to Tony Stewer, I wished it was more in the money area and more on the points area as well. If you are going to make it come to a stop you need to hit them hard where it counts…. IN THE POCKET BOOK.
Good job NASCAR!
The points and money mean nothing. He could be docked 300 points and still be in the ‘hokey’ chase.
And $25,000 for a multi-millionaire?
Tony was aware of what he said when he said it, and you can bet he knew what was coming from Nascar FOR doing it. But he did it anyway! haha. I applaud him for having the balls to stand up to people including the media when he challenged them to climb the fence. Tony is Tony. That’s part of his personality. If you don’t like it, root for a wuss.
Nascar is too leniant on him as usual. Stewart’s second home must be under Helton’s desk. Better becarefull Stewby, Jared is gonna get mad at you for cheating. LOL!!!
Nascarfan4life24 - How do you explain all the others that got the same fine? Are they all under there too? If it was Gordon you would probably claim it was way too much because they took away points for something that happened off the track.
to all who have written about this subject the fines and points docking made sense before but now its bulls__t!the supreme court recently ruled that someone who drops the f bomb as an utterance of exclamation on live tv is not inappropreiate because even the president and vice president of our country have both let it slip by accident and if they cant be fined for it than neither can other people.NASCAR needs to update their rules and get with the times!I hope someone who is affiliated with tony tells him to fight the penalty on these facts alone.the f bomb is way worse than what he said and he should do whatever it takes to get those points back and fight the fine.
Jr. got the same fine 2 years ago. they need to beef it up every year!
Nascarfan4life24, how can you say they were too lenient on him? He got the same penalty as Dale Jr., Robby Gordon, and others. Also, how can you say you are a NASCAR fan when you are always putting down any driver who’s name is not Jeff Gordon. I root for Jr and Smoke, but I don’t see the point in trashing another driver. They are all good drivers or they wouldn’t be here. You don’t have to root for someone, but you should respect them.
I think Mr. Gibbs needs to get rid of Tony. He might be a good race car driver but his mouth and Temper are a detrement to racing he to much of a hot head and lets his mouth overun his butt.
I agree with Jeff. 100%
And Steven, that would be the stupidest move in a long time.
Tony Stewart IS Gibbs racing.
That’s like Hendrick kicking out Jeff Gordon for having a “Stewart” temper.
Not gonna happen.
Dawn, nailed it perfectly. Eric, you did as well.
Heh….you know I don’t think anyone’s noticed the irony of the fact that ARS mods are censoring the language. Everyone who’s cursed is docked $25,000 and 25 points.
^ Joke, btw.
bull____…
It’s completely stupid..
And yeah, Tony has the balls to stand up to NASCAR’S ridiculous rules. He knew what he was doing..he had that “i’m doing something bad” smile on his face that you can’t miss. ::claps:: Good job Tony, stand up to these stupid rules that NASCAR has been coming up with. 25K to Tony is absolutely nothing. He probably smiled and laughed when he received the penalty! LOL!
Dawn is exactly right he knew the fine was coming before he said it. And I applaud him to for saying what he wants when he wants thats what makes him who he is. He had it planned he had “the smirk” before and after he said it. He don’t care its pocket change to him….
see thats just it. 25,000.00 is nothing to them. If thier going to make a statement they need to bump up the fines. you think Jr or the Hendrick boys will screw up a 2nd when the 3 of them recieved harsh penalties? you can bet your asses if they start giving those kinds of fines for every penalty then nascar will be so much better. but when the fines are pitty then they get the I don’t give a F*%K attitudes and keep doing them. believe me, if speeding tickets were as cheep as 25.00 for speeding, I’d brake the speed limit all the time and laugh everytime I did it too. But not only is a speeding ticket expensive but it also raises your insurance so people tend to slow it down. See my point here?
Kyle Petty said the F word and nothing happened. We know a live mike IS a live mike. Cable television routinely has shows like “The Shield” that use stronger language but they’re on after 9:00pm. More consistency please!
i like the guy that said get rid of tony that is funny are you smoking something you should share joe gibbs wouldn’t get rid of tony unless he was dead the guy can drive give him some respect who cares if he got a little emotional and let a “bad” word slip i just know the way the last 2 races have looked the other guys better get a win in or tony is gonna run away with bonus points it is that time of year and no everyone i am not a tony fan just lkie to watch him race
Guy, we can’t afford the 25 G fine!!
Gotta go censor your word now…
btw the guy who sweared wasn’t me.. yall need to fix that.. sometimes changes ur default name to the last person who posted
tony sucks and should just retire
It wont matter, hes going to make the chase anyway.
when its not ur driver getting the penalty ur all up saying he deserved itr and when its comes down to ur driver who gets the penalty u guys are like that is unfair. well the fine is fair its just that taking pts away its just stupid i mean c’mon cartoon network shows bad langauge(adult swim)heloooo this is a kids channel
It is only pocket change for him! and well worth it for me the fan who puts up with the bullshit week after week! Go Smoke~ a racers racer! Thank you!
The title might as well read “stewart fined 1 point and 25 cents”.
With the chase and the size of these race winnings, plus the old still-there rule that all fines go into a pot that’s handed back to the top XX teams in points at the end of the year, 25K/25p is…is…..i can’t think of anything else but rediculous.
Jr was only fined $10,000 for his inappropriate language…I figured
they’d come down just a bit tougher on Tony…but he’ll be fine. It
doesn’t look like it hurt him much. I just hate seeing NASCAR try to
control every piece of the sport…the drivers can’t be themselves
anymore…
Being outspoken is one way Tony stands out from the crowd.
Being a real racer is just another way.
NASCAR has become a complete crock of ____ I dont give a ____ what happens anymore and I am seriously selling all memorabilia i have that is from AE (after Earnhardt) because it has all become ________ since then. I cant wait to see this ship sink……
That anonymous above me is a complete ______ ___
Eh his bottom line is that the old days of Nascar pretty much completely
died out when Dale passed, and on that he’s right.
Ha,big deal nascar get real fining stewart or anyother top driver 25k is a joke thats pocket change and 25 points so what he couldnt careless he gets 20 of those points back when the chase starts so basically what you did was useless why bother?
If everything in NASCAR was purfect then no one would hardly get on these sites and post. NASCAR has Pi#*ed me off a few times this year and does not have much consistancy (at times) but it is still the best racing in the world, for those of you who are all the time saying your going to stop watching, sell all your NASCAR items and laugh when it goes under well go ahead but I think you’ll be waiting a long, long time. There are currently 49 plus cars trying to qualify every weekend, several more teams are in the works for next year and there are several “big” sponsers that would like to get into NASCAR, also there are places all over the country wanting to build tracks if NASCAR will come race on them not to mention other countries wanting races so I don’t see it going anywere any time soon. I like tony he is one of my favorite drivers “on the track” but off the track tony has attitude problems, let’s face it he is hot headed and doesn’t think before he speeks alot of the time and doesn’t cace who he offends when he gets like that. He is also very cocky/arrogent I have met and talked with Tony at several races (both nascar and Dirt) and it is just the way he is. I know several people that know him very well and they say that it is something you just get used to. But tony said what he said on purpose knowing he would get in trouble for it and didn’t care it was his way of slapping NASCAR, ESPN and others in the face and to him the penility was worth it. Kyle Petty’s F bomb was not his fault taht was TNT’s they were showing a replay of the wreck he was in and somehow had his radio on when he said it he had no idea he was on the air and TNT should have known better than that.
I really don’t see the point in fines or censoring. If you think you may be offended, then don’t watch. Some people are just way too sensitive and/or easily offended. Its ridiculous. A lot of kids hear worse language than that at home. Toughen up people, the real world isn’t like “Leave It To Beaver”.
Well said, Angel.
Is Tony actually arrogant, or does he just truly believe in himself?
There’s a fine line, and there’s nothing wrong with complete and total
confidence as long as you realize you could, someday, be knocked off
the top by someone better. But the ones who truly believe they’re
great drivers and can win on any given weekend are the ones that usually
do, by the looks of things. And as long as they can back it up, there’s
nothing wrong with that.
Lets see , Tony gets fined $25,000 for a cuss word. What kind of fine did Brian France get for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident?
