Stewart and Hamlin about to get contract extensions

Car owner J.D. Gibbs says that contract extensions are nearly set with #11-Denny Hamlin and #20-Tony Stewart. Both have contracts through 2009.
Both are set to attend the team’s press conference later this week announcing the move to Toyota and their contact extensions could be announced there.
- Stewart does not want to extend Gibbs contract this off season
- Loudon interview with Tony Stewart
- Roush working on contract extentions with Biffle, Edwards, Ragan
- Stewart blames Hamlin for Daytona wreck
- Stewart and Hamlin meet to patch things up

Sounds like Tony is ok with the whole Toyota thing……..
well, we will find out finally if it is the toyotas that suck or if it is just the drivers
Well the only good driver that Toyota has is Brian Vickers…in the 83 car, but now they might be adding…three great drivers…in Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart, and Kyle Busch…and HOF Racing will go to Toyotas as well, since gibbs is, they’ll have J.J Yeley
i know, vickers was on fire, i’m just talkin about the other wing nuts like waltrip and jarrett
I’m absolutely disgusted that Gibbs is switching to Toyota. I’d still pull for those guys if they switched to Ford or Dodge, but I can’t do it if they’re going to be in Toyotas. And before anyone has a chance to say, “Well, umm if you’re a loyal fan you wouldn’t care what they drove.” I feel as if Joe Gibbs Racing has betrayed me as a fan. I want to see Ford, Chevy and Dodge whip Toyota’s ass. I don’t want to see Toyota come in and start throwing their billions of dollars around and buy all the good teams, and buy their way to victory lane.
Well KyleZ06 you may see chevy whoop toyota’s ass at the beginning of the season but i garantee you that all 3 gibbs drivers will put those toyotas in the chase and most likely win the title. Bottom line is JGR is smart and they can see that the same thing is gonna happen in Cup that has happened to the truck series. after 1-2 years the toyotas dominate. This is a great move by JGR for the future to not only extend the contracts of Hamlin and Stewart but to go to toyota. Watch for many wins next year. Stewart will contend for the record of 7 championships. mark my words
Kyle I agree 100%! bunch of crap, the major American automotive groups
made NASCAR what it is and now toyota steps in and throws their money
around it is enough to turn me off of NASCAR period. I have been a
Stewart fan since his dirt days and this just make me want to vomit!
I heard on the radio station that does nascar that tony wants out of his contract
Hey KyleZ06, want to describe to me how Chevy has become so dominant? I wonder if it’s because they’ve thrown billions of dollars around and have done every possible thing they can to get and keep good teams? How is it any different when Toyota does it?
Everyone (including that crybaby Roush himself) predicted that Toyota was going to come in and buy up all the good teams, steal all their smart crewmembers, take all the good drivers and dominate right off the bat… Correct me if I’m wrong, but they haven’t exactly done that up to this point.
If you feel Gibbs “betrayed” you, so be it. You never said how or why they betrayed you, so why should we think they have? You can get in line with the folks that think Dale Jarrett somehow owed it to them to stay in a Ford. Gibbs isn’t going to fold up the tents and call it quits because a fan had their feelings hurt when they switched manufacturers. The sponsors will still pony up big checks to ride on a winner’s hood, no matter what the sticker on the nose says. Fans will buy T-shirts, models, and shower curtains as long as you win. Joe Gibbs Racing will go on winning with or without you. End of story.
Toyota has noting to worry about and it was only a matter of time before they got one of the big teams to come on board with them in the Cup Series. Toyota has and will continue to spend a lot of money in NASCAR… They want to run well, and they want to win. They are the dominant force to be reckoned with already in the Truck Series and are also doing very well in the Busch Series. The problem that they are having in the Cup Series is not that they “suck”, it is that only the first year start up teams are using them in 2007. If MWR or Red Bull were using Chevrolet they’d likely still “suck” with that manufacturer as Wood Bros does with theirs. Keep in mind that Kyle Busch just signed on, and both Denny Hamlin and Tony Stewart are signing extensions with JGR. All 3 of these drivers are share a win at all cost personality. If they thought Toyota “sucked” as a manufacturer, I’m quite sure you would see them hunting elsewhere, wouldn’t you?

Gibbs is just doing what others will soon. Due to Ford’s money trouble, they will be out of NASCAR by 2010.
Realy? I figured Dodge would pull out before Ford. And I think they’ll be just as dominate in Toyota..
I agree with Kyle. Toyota has a long history of coming in and driving up the costs until nobody else can compete. They have wrecked every series they competed in and once everybody is gone they leave too.
Whats up with toyota? Why do americans like toyota’s other then it good gas miles. this hole thing is really starting to bug me. why do you want to buy a jap car after we were in a war with them, it does make sence. but what do i know i am only a fan. and you call yourselfs americans, when you go out to buy a toyota b/c you think you are getting ahead of everyone else, when they are not even helping the problem, of using some other sorce of fuel. so they mix gas and elct and everyone thinks thats the answer, but they are still using gas. hello wake people. and if the toyoat are so gas saving why are they so small just enough room for 2 people, not to mechin they cant hold a lot, so they would not be that great to take a trip with 5 people in the car. see thats the good thing about american car that people dont know about. You can load the car up with 5 people and everything they need for a week vac and still get 30 per gallen, and still have the same horsepower as if there was no one in the car so mach that if you want to. and tell me what toyota can do all that.and how do you know that tony and denny are not looking around we wont know until tomorrow so yea.bye
Word on the street is that Tony is mad as hell and trying to get out of his contract with Gibbs. Apparently he really is tired of NASCAR and has plans to race of Chip Ganassi in IndyCar so he can win the 500.
We’re hearing that Tony is getting a big fat pay increase in his new contract with Gibbs. He’s not going anywhere.
Heard he might get a life contract just like Gordon has.
