Tony StewartJoe Gibbs Racing’s Tony Stewart and Penske Racing’s Kurt Busch tested NASCAR’s new tolerance policy when it comes to showing one’s personality Friday during the final Budweiser Shootout practice at Daytona International Speedway.

The two were battling for position in the final session when contact between the two sent Busch’s Dodge into the wall. Busch then smacked the side door of Stewart’s car several times as they headed for pit road, then Stewart stopped in a spot that was blocking the entrance to the garage, forcing Busch to stop as well.

Both drivers were called to the NASCAR officials trailer for a meeting and both left without comment.

“This is the NASCAR everybody fell in love with,” NASCAR Vice President, Corporate Communications Jim Hunter said following the incident. “Emotions run high.”

Hunter said that Darby would speak with the drivers again Saturday morning and that there could be penalties issued.

I’m all for drivers being mad and showing their personality, but Vehicular assault should not be tolorated, especially when this is the second time in less then a year Kurt did something like this.

If you don’t like each other deal with it like men not girls in your cars. I have to give props to smoke for not ramming his car back into Kurt and keeping his cool.

I think Kurt should be DQ’d from the Shootout, and I think this is the way NASCAR should handle stuff like this from now on.

1st time it happens you do not qualify, and you will not be eligible for a PCP.

2nd time it happens in the same race weekend, you forfeit all points and purse from that race.

3rd time it happens int he same race weekend, you & your team sit out this race, and the following race.

Watching the tape it did look like to me after Kurt hit the first time
Tony was giving it back also. I love to see them doing stuff like this
and don’t have a problem with it as long as no one is hurt.

Busch is a whiner..when his car gets loose and hits the wall, he finds the person who was behind him and starts with them. Kurt’s car was loose; the announcers even said it before the wreck happened. Notice he’s done this kind of dangerous bumping before? Last year he pulled that crap twice and the year before he did it too. He needs to grow up..and he’s the older of the two Buschs? Give me a break, his little brother acts more mature about things that happen on the track. He doesn’t endanger pit crew members just because he’s pissed..he at least has a little common sense.

This was a racing incident. The COT’s are moving around all over the track. Kurt just has to have someone to complain and whine about. I hope Tony did knock some since into him in the hauler. I hope NASCAR lets them show a little more of their personalities this year. Maybe a double feature would boast ratings Ku. Busch vs. Tony Stewart and Juan Pablo Montoya vs. Kevin Harvick.

I’m no Kurt busch fan, and not one for sticking up for him, but Stewart has done his fair share of vehicular assult in years past including last year. No one has really whinned or cried about it yet so to say Kurt is a crybaby is kinda premature. Besides in the last 25 years that I have watched NASCAR there has been bigger crybabies. Whats the real reason most people hate this guy. I’ve met him he seems nice. I’m just not a fan. And saying he’s a whiney crybaby is not an answer because ALL drivers cry and whine INCLUDIN Stewart
