19 year-old RWI Racing Busch Series driver, Steve Wallace, is OK following being attacked in an attempted mugging Sunday evening in Indianapolis. Wallace suffered only minor cuts and abrasions in the attack and will compete as scheduled in this weekend’s Busch Series event at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada.
Wallace was attacked by a group of at least three men upon exiting a convenience store in Indianapolis Sunday night, where he stayed to watch the running of the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Wallace participated in the Busch Series event at O’Reilly Raceway Park the previous evening.
Upon entering the convenience store, the men commented on Wallace’s watch, a gift given to him by a sponsor after he earned his second career pole position at Nashville Superspeedway in June. After exiting the convenience store, Wallace was jumped and attacked by the group of men, who were attempting to rob him of his watch. The men later fled the scene after being unsuccessful in robbing Wallace. A suspect was apprehended later that evening and is being held in an Indianapolis jail.

Wow that sucks. I’m glad he’s all right! You think maybe the people that jumped him were crewmembers that were tired of fixing all his wrecked cars?
ha right? I admit I’m not a fan of the kid at all because whenever
I’ve seen them talk to him he seems pompous somehow, but I’m glad
to hear he’s okay; hope they get the other two involved.
Better Hit the Gym Steve! Or do what most major sports starts do and get a bodyguard!
All joking aside, glad the kid is OK!
That just down right sucks. Glad to hear that he is okay.
Im a fan of Steve and i glad too hear he is alright
I’m glad he’s ok. I actually like him as a driver but I like the
Busch driver.
Meant to say Busch brothers.
Wow that’s crazy. Glad he’s alright.
Welcome to Indy buddy
lol I live on the west side n that stuff happens all the time.
Not suprised.
Welcome to the real world Steve. You probably didn’t realize the area just north of Chicagoland Speedway (Richards Street north of I-80 and the area on Rt 53 north of the track) is worse than that. The Elvis song ” In The Ghetto” comes to mind. We’re glad Steve is alright. This could’ve easily become a very tragic situation.
Indy is a really bad town for that kind of thing. I live close and Lord knows we are extra careful when we go to Indy. The only place that I do feel safe in the whole town is right there at the track.
