Sterling Marlin weighing his options for the future
Quote selected text Published August 8th, 2007 in NASCAR News
Sterling Marlin is not sure of his plans. Now 50, he planned to make this his final full season. He wanted to run a partial schedule next year but doesn’t know if that will happen now. “I can’t talk to other teams until my contract with Ginn is settled. Hopefully that’ll be this week and then I can start looking around a little.”
Marlin wants to race some more — “Maybe 12-15 Busch races, something like that” — and would consider another Cup ride if it’s competitive. He might heed the advice of Darrell Waltrip, who in the twilight of a spectacular career tried to squeeze out a few final races in non-competitive cars. It was painful watching the three-time champion struggle just to make the field, then wobble around at the rear.
Waltrip says if he had it to do over, he wouldn’t. Marlin promised not to make that mistake: “I began my career driving junk and I won’t end it that way. It’s gotta be a decent ride or nothing.”

he probably should just go ahead and retire. Howbout him and Martin co-drive a second car for hall of fame? The 2 people that should have championships but dont.
Why isn’t Sterling looking to the truck series? I don’t see why teams and sponsors wouldn’t flock to him there. I think he’s already tried to squeeze out one too many races with questionable rides in Cup.
You mean…he was racing this year?
Sterling who ?? Time to slide away with your good name still in tact. Or like other (To long in the seat drivers), start a Truck race team.
